Vashar giving back

This kind of stuff is just cool to here.  From the Bears site.

Thankful for the unwavering support he's received from Bears fans, Nathan Vasher has found an incredibly generous and unique way to show his gratitude.

Having been selected to his first Pro Bowl, the second-year cornerback has decided to take two lucky fans with him to the Feb. 12 all-star game in Hawaii.

Bears cornerback Nathan Vasher has 13 interceptions in 32 career NFL games.
Dipping into his own pocket, Vasher will provide a fan and a guest roundtrip airline tickets, four nights in a luxury hotel and two tickets to the Pro Bowl game. The winner, who will be chosen in a random drawing Feb. 2, will also dine with the cornerback in Hawaii.

With fans accounting for one-third of the vote (along with NFL players and coaches), Vasher knows that he would have had a difficult time making the Pro Bowl without their support.

"It's just a way for me to show the fans how much I appreciate them," he said. "There's no way I could have had an opportunity to go to the Pro Bowl if it wasn't for their votes.

"It's just a way for me to get a chance to hang out with a couple of them and have a good time out there in Hawaii.

"It was really important to me to show the fans how important they are."

Fans can enter to win the trip by listening to The Mike North Show weekday mornings beginning Monday on WSCR 670 AM. Listeners will be entered into the drawing by calling into "The Score" when they hear a game highlight that features Vasher.

you had me until...
mike north's name appeared. vasher deserves better for this gesture than to have it asssociated with north.
"hell" is a continuously running radio program hosted by north, chris berman, and al michaels. no commercials. all updates read by ronnie woo woo wickers. no on/off switch. no volume control. only 1 channel. and never a power failure.

sorry, brother chad...
once upon a time, 25-30 years ago, there was al michaels. now there is AL MICHAELS, LORD OF THE MICROPHONE AND PURVEYOR OF ALL BROADCAST WISDOM. the first guy i liked, and the second guy is beyond vanity. a miracle would be the second guy regaining his form as the first guy.

it's only my opinion, and we all know about opinions:
they are like arseholes.
everyone has one.
most of them stink.

cheers

Fair enough...
But I still count Michaels as one of the broadacasters I still like.

I like:

Al Michaels
Steve Stone
end of list.

Pat Hughes
I always thought he was good. He works well with Ron.
The season is over so I have to think of a new signature.

announcer
I like Pat Hughes too. I always though of Joe Buck as a refined Chip Caray. I like Stoney as well. The ones I hate the most are Joe Morgan, Brian Baldinger, and Kenny Albert and of course Hawk...

Joe Buck
is a world class douche bag.  The guy has no idea of what he's talking about and speaks as if he has never played sports at any level.

I wish Leon would have punched that smug bastard in the face.

announcers
Rooney and Farmer were great.
Too bad the Sox had to let Rooney go.
Guess they were too busy spending their money on making the team even better than last year.

I liked Stoney too, and Costas. Millen was a much better announcer than a GM, kinda like Hawk.

Hope the same doesn't happen to Dale Tallon.
