Rivera's Coaching Prospects

I knew he would get some looks, but this is disturbing.

Eight teams are seeking a head coach after the Oakland Raiders fired Norv Turner, and Williams was a top candidate for at least half those vacancies. Rivera will interview this week with the St. Louis Rams and a second NFC team, reported in Tuesday's Sun-Times to be the Green Bay Packers. Per league rules, the interviews will take place in Chicago

Come on Ronny, you can't coach the Pack.  It is against all that is good.

Would be a bit of irony
that the Bears signed Lovie away from St. Louis and then the first coach from the Lovie Smith Tree goes and signs to coach the Rams.

Yep
Mike Singletary, currently linebackers and assistant head coach with Mike Nolan in San Francisco is also being interviewed by Detroit.

I wonder if this is just Millen covering his minority interview ass after he got fined for pre-emptively hiring Mooch.  Though as  someone pointed out on the score yesterday, how can you call the day after the end of the season "Black Monday" if no brothers got fired?

Not a single black coach was let go.  The only one whose even had a bad season was Herm Edwards.  And by and large, all of the guys being rumored as coach of the year are black.  Gruden's the only one I've heard who isn't.

there are a lot
of loadd statements in that post, so I will just say the thing that is getting Singletary looked at is he is thought of having a lot of heart and montivation and might be able to jump start a team through it.

singletary
is going to make one heck of a head coach, and i hope it isn't with the lions. i mean the guy was coaching since his rookie year and he's only gotten better with age. not a single coach that was fired i believe didn't deserve to be fired...my only point of contention is that not enough gms got canned (except for donahoe, who should've been let go before they hired him). my guess is owners will take a cue from ralph wilson in the coming weeks. for our sake, let's hope Millen has something on Bill Ford and we'll have nothing but NFC North Championships for the next 5 years.

by the way
wouldn't it be ridiculous if 1) rivera got the packer job 2) singletary got the lion job 3) jauron got the viking job

on ron
I hope Ron keeps to his word and stays one more year. IIRC, he's made overtures towards staying next year. Next year the Bears D will only be better, moreso if Ron stays.

I do think other teams want to poach Ron so our defense is more 'beatable' next year.

Let us not forget...
That this is not Rivera's defense.  It's Lovie's D, Rivera runs it for him.  Rivera wasn't even Lovie's first choice.  His first choice was Tampa Bay's defensive line coach, whom Tampa denied permission to speak to the Bears (that makes them DICKS!).  If Ron leaves maybe we'll take another run at Tampa's D line coach.

It's not that bad.
The WHOLE defense is back next year, and plus like it's been stated, this is Lovey's D, not Chico's. Also too Both McMahon and McMichaels played for Green Bay, so it's not the end of the world.

Thanks for the reminder
Don't forget about Dent playing for the niners when they beat us in San Fran in the playoffs after we killed the vikes, now Singletary(niners coach)is talkin to detroit. Everyone deserves to take the next step but NOT IN OUR DIVISION.
