Johnson suspended 1 game by Bears

Looks like the Bears will suspend Tank Jonson for 1 game, and then welcome him back to the team. It also appears that Tank is clear on this being his last chance.

I think this is a good move. Cutting him doesn't help matters at this point, but the team had to do something. Putting him on the inactive roster also may not have been a wise move, as one worries what would happen to Johnson if football wasn't a part of his life the next couple months.

One last chance
Enough is enough.
This year is not about Tank's drama it's about the Super bowl.

gun charges
I found this paragraph pretty enlightening:
Johnson still could face a penalty from the league under its personal conduct policy for the misdemeanor gun charges, but a source close to Johnson indicated those could be dropped because the weapons were registered in Arizona, where he is a legal resident.

When I read the article earlier, it mentioned that the reason he couldn't get a FOID card was because he didn't have an IL drivers license. Plus, he wouldn't be eligible for a license until 2008. If that's the case, then I would think he could get out of the gun charges.

that's interesting
turns out our boy can fill out paperwork after all. the fact that they were loaded still bothers me, but as more info comes out this isn't looking as bad.

yeah
The fact the guns were loaded with young children in the house is reckless, but I wonder if the guns were locked up or sitting out in the open. Either I missed that part of the whole thing, or they haven't reported on it.

Posted in the other thread...
Let's remember guys, this was a misdemeanor for not having a FOID card.  This was not a felony weapons charge.

Let's also remember that
Tommie Harris is out.  Otherwise we all probably could care less what happens to Tank Johnson right now...

Not true...
With the way the run defense was playing WITH tommie, I was worried.

That being said, we've done a nice job on the run for the last couple of games.

It was a joke
but I think this whole mess would get about 20% less comments by us if Harris was fine.

I knew...
you were rather being tongue in cheek with that but I also knew you were getting at something there.

Funny 'cause it's true
I will admit that I've been missing Tank like crazy recently.  It seems to me you could always count on him to make one or two big plays (tackle an RB for a loss, pressure the QB) a game.   Let's not forget that the Bears defense went to shit in the 4th quarter last Sunday - when Tank would usually get the bulk of his PT.

So I'm pretty darn happy about the light suspension - purely for selfish reasons, sure.  I hope he gets his life together and everything, but come on.  This is like an early Christmas gift.

Thanks Lovie!

noted
I know. And I remember seeing something about how he couldn't get a FOID yet, due to not being able to get an IL driver's license. So those charges will likely be dropped.

I get the feeling that the cops went fishing based on a few complaints. Remember the initial reports that they found 13 pounds of pot (or some ludicrous amount) in his house? The only problem was that they caught small frys.

Johnson
must stay at home except to go to work.

We'll see how that works out.
