Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

WCG Mock Draft

Timothy Speer takes care of San Deigo picks and although I like his Chris Berman reasoning, Boomer isn't that hip, so we will likely be left with 'Sherlock' Holmes.

#19 San Diego: Santonio Holmes, WR, OSU

The Chargers top wide-out is 67 year-old Keenan McCardell.  While still productive, his walker has caused a drop-off in his straight-line speed (though it has been a God-send for his down-field blocking).  Enter Santonio Holmes.  This burner from OSU has the speed to potentially force defenses to back that 8th defender out of the box, making LT and AG, that much more dangerous.  As an added bonus, Chris Berman will likely call him Santonio "What's Up" Holmes.

Kansas City is on the clock...

Kansas City
Chiefs take DE Mathias Kiwanuk Boston College.
D-Line can be a risky first round selection but Mathias is a good all around athelete. Get him in the weight room ASAP and he should be a real good pass rusher. Will help the lack of talent/ experience in the secondary.
hit him in his earhole

I'll take him..

Lendale White has a torn hamstring and won't be able to run for at least a month and teams will be drafting him without a 40 time.

I don't care if we have 8 running backs, I'd draft him....

on the second day perhaps...
This guy is a train wreck.  He has attitude problems reported from way back.  And to top it all off he now has a bum leg.

"Ring, rigng...

Hello?

Yes, of course.

Hey LenDale, it Maurice Clarett calling, he wants his NFL outlook back."

I still think that if healthy and with a proper attidude, this guy has more upside than Reggie Bush.  Oh yeah, I said it.  There is no room in the NFL for guys who only carry the ball 10 - 15 times a game.

Marshall Faulk
in his best year averaged 20 carries a year, no reason to think Reggie Bush wouldn't do the same. For the most part Faulk was around 18 carries a game...

Reggie Bush will be a stud, there's no getting around it...

Disagree..
If you look at total touches for a career Faulk averaged @22 touches a game (carries and recpts).  This is the @ the same average as Shaun Alexander, Barry Sanders and Emmitt Smith.

Reggie Bush will become a third down scat back.  There is no place for him the NFL and you're hard pressed to find a high impact guy like him on any NFL team.

I;m thinking Dennis Gentry.

Why would you think
that Bush wouldn't be used in the same way? He's shown the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, block, return kicks (something he probably won't do for long).

I do...
Like Dennis Gentry.  A multi back who cannot be counted on to handle the bulk of the work.
