Around SBN: Has Kentucky Improved Since the Non-Conference Season?

Dear sports-paparazzi 'experts'

Well, somehow the Bears won today.  I don't know how, since all of you people who get paid to do this told me the Saints would win.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/features/talent

That the Saints were an offensive juggernaut.  That the Bears had no chance.  Well, that didn't happen, did it?  The Bears won by 25 pts.  That's a 3.5 TOUCHDOWN margin.  In other words, you won't be able to do your typical cliche-ridden spinjobs and write this off as the 'luck' of the Bears.  Although you'll try.  You shouldn't be able to rip Rex Grossmann a new asshole, you should learn what some of us here have come to even begrudgingly accept - that the guy is resilient.  But you won't learn a damn thing.  Cause you'll keep writing horseshit like this:

'Grossman worst Super Bowl quarterback since Eason'

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/don_banks/01/21/snap.judgments/index.html

But I have just a few further questions ...

Star-divide

1st, what is it, exactly, that you guys get paid to do?  I swear to God, you are the only people on the planet, next to politicians and weathercasters, who can be completely f'ing wrong every week, develop immediate amnesia about your failure to correctly predict anything, and then continue to pull out of deep orafices further 'predictions'.  Some of you, I'd imagine, have a wealth of 'micro'-knowledge about football.  Way more than I'll ever possess.  But you need to start to understand that you have no ability whatsoever to predict who is going to win any better than we do.  Lab chimps along with my parakeet can look at the lines and make a prediction.  If anything needs to die a quick death it's the idea that you assholes really know what you're talking about.  You don't.

So if you can take a step out of your echo-chambers for one second, you'll realize how sweet this victory was for Bears fans.  Aside from the fact that this is an iconic moment in franchise history, the 1st Super Bowl for this team since before some of us were born, you'll realize that part of what has fueled us this year was that we got no respect.  We were picked by everyone to lose today.  And that didn't happen.  Fellas, it wasn't even close.

Sincerely,
A Bears fan

P.S. While I'm at it, to all the cutesy national media outlets who were hoping for the Saints to win it all so that they and all of America could wipe our hands clean of the shame of Katrina, I've got some news for you.  New Orleans is still a mess.  There is still a diaspora of people who don't have a permanent home.  So it would be nice that just because the Saints didn't win today, you'll still try to shine a light on that tragic area, Anderson Cooper can't do it all by himself.

Dear Don Banks,
Q: What do you call the guy who graduates last in his med school class?

A: Doctor.

In other words, it doesn't matter what people think of you if you pass all the damn tests.  When Rex passes his last test in 2 weeks, I guess he'll be proud to be the "worst" qb ever to win a ring.  That in and of itself will make him arguably a more successful qb than Dan Marino.

I like the analysts...
To analyze. Let them tell me why Rex has played poorly at times (thanks Jaws), let them tell me what the Bears need to do to win, let them tell me how losing Harris or Brown will probably affect the defense...

But dear god, don't let them ever tell me who will win again. You're right. They have the vast knowledge and they will notice the little things us fans never will, but in the end, they really don't have any more clue into who will win than we do.

Exactly ...
I also want to hear analysis about, for instance, mechanics, or blocking schemes or the particular strengths/weaknesses of zone v. man.  When I listen to WBBM I love hearing Thayer break down the O-line's role in a big running play, for example.

But damn, the burning stupidity of these people when it comes to predicting winners.  Worth-less.

I wouldn't ever go out to hurt anybody deliberately - unless it was, you know, important, like a league game or something. - Dick Butkus

Woof, what a piece of crap for an article.

Re-written Banks article:
Boy, that Reggie Bush catch-and-run was so awesome, I had to change my pants afterwards. And then smoke a cigarrette. But maybe, just maybe, the pointing at the defense and doing a flip into the end zone was a little much. But the defense of the Bears sucked and they deserved it. And don't get me started on Rex Grossman. He suck, Suck, SUCKED!!11! Passing for 78 of the 85 yards on the decisive drive when the game was on the line and still in doubt. Man, he sucked. The Bears have no chance against a REAL quarterback like Peyton Manning.

Unleash your inner Grabowski.
