Reasons the Bears will win

First off, I am under the weather, so I will not be able to go post crazy as I did yesterday.  If I miss something please throw up a diary and I will catch up later.

I imagine we will see a lot of these between now and the SB.  Here are the 5 reasons the Bears will win>.

3. The Bears can make considerable hay on special teams. We know straight-arrow kicker Robbie Gould is no historical match for Adam Vinatieri, but he's rock-solid. However, Indy's kick-coverage team looked a bit shaky (OK, awful) against New England.

Unless Chicago rookie Devin Hester goes AWOL during a reunion with his University of Miami cronies, the Bears may have lovely field position more than once.

Shorter Dr. Z ...
"The Bears won by 25 but they got lucky during critical moments of the game.  Rex Grossmann sucks.  Had Cundiff made that FG the Saints would have romped.  Peyton Manning, on the other hand, is a beautiful man who has courage and talent, and, inverse from the growddy Bears, the only thing that held him back in the playoffs was his BAD LUCK."

Longer Dr. Z is here, if anyone can stomach the continuing feces that flies from the elite gatekeepers of our sports discourse:

Money quote:

I see a big Indy win, with the hurry-up gradually breaking down an opportunistic but worn out Bear defense.

Final score: Colts 34, Bears 24

Oh, and I see nothing in this particular installment that references this pearl of wisdom he provided us in the past:

I like the Saints because I think that right now Brees is the soundest QB in the tournament, and their offense has all the parts in place, including a Mister Inside, Mister Outside twosome of Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush that is a terrific springboard for anything.
Saints 31, Bears 27

Seriously, nice track record!  Of course, why would he mention that, it was soooo in the past.  You know, way back six f'ing days ago.

I wouldn't ever go out to hurt anybody deliberately - unless it was, you know, important, like a league game or something. - Dick Butkus

I'm sure all
of this kind of crap will be used to fuel the fire that is the Chicago Bears. It worked over the last two weeks and it will work again. Let them say what they want...we know better.

another reason to root for the Bears
Rumor has it that Jones will go after Smith hard after the SB to coach the Cowboys as the Bears are being cheapskates paying the guy and Smith is from Texas and was a huge Cowboys fan growing up.

GO BEARS!

Really now?
The Bears are being Cheapskates? How do you figure? They offered him a decent contract 3 years ago when he had no head coaching experience. Do you expect them to negotiate a new deal while going through the playoffs? I don't think NOW is the time to do that.

Besides, the Cowboys are probably going with their assistant head coach because they feel they are moving in the right direction and don't feel the need to shake things up.

Assistant coaches?
Come on...if you are going to attack Terry, at least get your facts straight.  Most of the Cowboy's assistants have already left for other teams.  And Jerry Jones rarely hires little known assistants.  Jones likes big names.

I would be shocked if a current Cowboy's assistant got the head job there.

Tony Sparano
Mentioned as a candidate for the Cowboys' coaching job.

Tony Sparano: The Cowboys' current assistant head coach would be a logical choice if Jones thinks the team is heading in the right direction and needs a coach who won't make any dramatic changes.

Hmmm...
I would say he'll take that job only if they can pry him out of the waste management business.

and another
I'm thinking it will be like a home game with the majority rooting for the Bears. A few have played in the area and some still live there.

I would imagine the Bears
have a significantly larger fan base than the Colts. I hope that the Bears fans descend upon Miami and absolutely take over the joint. Nothing would make me happier than to see them turn Dolphin Stadium into Soldier Field South.
first the Rush...now the Bears.

don't forget the florida background
of grossman, alex brown, and todd johnson. especially rex...they loved him in college. i'd expect us to have the crowd.

good call
forgot about that. That'd be interesting to look and see which team has the most Florida or Florida St. alumni.

Stat of the week just came out on WSCR
They had the Bears winning 9 of the 12 categories with the colts winning 2 with one tie in what they use to predict the winner of the Superbowl.

That link...
goes to the Conference championships write up.  Where's the Super Bowl one?

by Chad @ Windy City Gridiron on Jan 23, 2007 1:43 PM CST up reply actions

The Accuscore...
From ESPN which predicted a Bears win last week has the Colts winning...61% to 39%...just in case anyone ever looks at that.

by lopey986 on Jan 23, 2007 1:16 PM CST reply actions

Well...
...it also had the Patriots winning last week, so that should tell you what it is worth.
