Ricky WIlliams

With the running game looking the way it does, and no signs of any life, am I the only one who wants to see Ricky Williams in a Chicago Bears uniform?  He just got reinstated and it looks like the Dolphins aren't going to keep him.  If he does become available, I think he could contribute to our running game.  Ricky is an unbelievable combo of size and speed.  He's 30, but hasn't really played all that much in the past 3 years.  I saw somewhere where he looks like he is still in great shape.  Any takers?

Count me in...
Then we can have the Longhorn backfield.  I don't care how old he is, the problem with NFL players in not age, it's wear and tear.  So, with his missed time, he's like 26,

nope
He's 30, but hasn't really played all that much in the past 3 years. -- That's exactly the problem. He hasn't played in 3 years. This isn't  like riding a bike. Also, I don't want the headaches that come with him.

With passing on Tank this off-season
There is no way we bring Ricky in.  Talk about the height of hypocracy!

different things
we told tank - NO MORE TROUBLE WITH THE LAW! then he gets arrested.  Big difference.  If we bring in Williams and say, NO MORE TROUBLE WITH THE LAW, then it is consistent.

High-Risk, High-Reward
It wouldn't make much sense for management to sign to Ricky Williams considering their good behavior stance (along with the NFL, which I agree with) but he would make much sense for our stagnant offense. Yeah, we all know he hasn't done shit for quite some time; but I'm quite frankly fed up with Cedric "Enis" Benson. As a season ticket holder, I'd love to see management actually give a shit about winning some ballgames in a winable NFC. If we're sorely missing Thomas Jones, we need a suitable and versatile replacement and he's there for the taking. Simply put: we have 7 games left, we need a back to pound the ball, pick up the blitz, and catch the ball when needed. Ricky can do it if he wants. I hope he cleared his mind during his 18-month hiatus. Time for management for once to take a risk, especially on the offensive side of the ball...its not like they know how to find them well in the draft.

I don't know what Ricky or his agents are looking for if the Dolphins don't want him back, but I'd be willing to pay a premium for some short-term service...seems like a win-win situation

where's the risk?
there is zero risk.  low risk, high reward.

I'd have to agree with Chad
on this.  There is no way he can expect any kind of a real contract.  Get him cheap, give him a shot.  If it works you are ahead of the game, if he doesn't have it anymore or still hasn't laid off the grass, cut him and you are no worse for the wear.

Bottom Line
Our running game sucks.  I think he's going to play with a huge chip on his shoulder and be very productive.  He can't be any worse than our current situation.  What problems?  The guy gets high.  It's not like he's TO.  He retired to avoid a year long suspension.  I wanted the Bears to draft him back in 98.  I wish we still had Jones, but he isn't doing anything in NY, and he has a better offensive line.

I thought it was the o-line.
I want him to go to New England so I can use him for a fantasy win, but he won't be available to after Thanksgiving at the earliest.

um
won't the dolphins just keep him with ronnie brown being out for the year?

Word around the campfire
Is that the fins don't want him.

Forget about it
I just saw that the Dolphins are going to keep him.  So much for that idea.

Money.
I don't know the specifics, but Chatman's been alright, so why pay for Wiliiams? I guess they'll keep him and trade him in the off-season.
