DENVER BRONOS VS. CHICAGO BEARS- Game Thread

(5-5)
VS

(4-6)

SITE: SOLDIER FIELD
DATE: NOVEMBER 25, 2007
TIME: 3:15 CST
STATION: CBS

With Detroit going down and the Giants on their way down, the Bears are still very much in the race.  However, Minnesota got the win today, so the Bears need a win over Denver just to stay out of the cellar.

Hey WCG...
i forgot to say earlier, thanks for the book and the posters. Better late than never eh ;)

by lopey986 on Nov 25, 2007 3:23 PM CST   0 recs

No problem.
I was way late in sending, but I actually mailed them three times, but they kept coming back for different reasons.  I finally got them sorted out.

If they can't block somebody......
looks like 4-7.  You hold when you're beat.  Grossman actually looks OK considering he has less than 2 seconds to deliver it.

Hester.
Is this a video game?

i want to state this for the record...
I want to be very clear when I say...

I like Devin Hester.  He's pretty good.

benson
the bears really miss cedric benson right now.

anyone still want adrian peterson and garrett wolfe to get more looks?

by big_lowitzki on Nov 25, 2007 5:50 PM CST   0 recs

we have no choice
i think Benson is done for the season so... get used to it.

by Chad on Nov 25, 2007 5:55 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

perhaps...
... but I am just making a point.

Wolfe and/or Peterson are most definitely not better than Benson.

And how about Todd Sauerbrun and his chicken-shit?

by big_lowitzki on Nov 25, 2007 6:13 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

Then..,
... you  must also be happy with a worse running game.

Benson is a much better RB than AP.

by big_lowitzki on Nov 25, 2007 6:15 PM CST to parent up   0 recs

To be fair..
I was watching the game here and there putting up Xmas lights but AP sure looked like he runs a lot harder in the few plays I did see.

He runs hard.
For a yard and a half.

Peterson plays with a lot of determination - the plays you may have witnessed were downright inspirational examples of a man defying the limits of his body to stay on his feet. But he's not fast, and he's not a great runner. He was downright depressing to watch after Benson's injury - until the ground was wet enough for him to just stand up and slide (seriously, is that what he was doing? It sure as hell wasn't what you'd call running) he was just diving for a yard and a half per carry.

A two RB system is the ideal for these two players - Peterson shines when he's catching short passes, or when he can act as a more agile fullback, pushing through big guys for a couple extra yards. But he'll never break away and make a decent run the way Benson has (had?) started to the past couple games. I'm not mad at Peterson - he delivered what we needed him to deliver today - but he's not the sort of running back that works best as a starter. I hope Benson's not too seriously injured and we get to see him build on what he's been showing the past couple games - I think there's still potential for big things from him. I like Peterson, but he's not the most rewarding player we could have in that position.

Yeah.
If we win this game - and I'm still optimistic - there'll be some satisfaction in Sauerbrun's implosion. If we don't, not so much, really.

Peterson's touchdown just now was pretty exciting - talk about a team effort! Is this rugby? I guess it's good to know that Peterson can move forward if he's actually literally, physically pushed by a half-dozen Bears.

Grossman...
BTW... Grossman has played much better today than his numbers show.

The fumbles suck...

But he has had no help from either his offensive line or his receivers.  The "Super Bowl ready" receiving corp has 3-4 drops that should have been easy catches.  And the offensive line has once again been pathetic.

by big_lowitzki on Nov 25, 2007 6:14 PM CST   0 recs

This game
offensively, is on the O-line and recievers.  They've given him no help at all.

Grossman has made some great throws that are simply being dropped.  ANd then he gets blindsided immediately.

One More...
... and speaking of people who suck...

Adam Archuleta.  He sucks.

you weren't the first.

and you won't be the last.

archuleta sucks.

HOT DAMN!
Grossman is the new Elway!

(am i getting a little ahead of myself?)

by lopey986 on Nov 25, 2007 6:56 PM CST   0 recs

Grossman
I counted at least 4 passes that should have been caught...Rex seems to be more accurate than before his benching.

Three turnovers is pretty bad, but one of the fumbles was just plain bad luck.  The other fumble was all on Grossman, I think.

Me in Chad's parachat ...
1st Quarter: I hate this team.  Ron Turner is BRILLIANT!  I can't stand watching these stiffs play.

2nd Quarter: D looks good for a change.  Offense still looking crappy.  Man, Benson is finally running well - oh fuck.

3rd Quarter:  Thank you Todd Sour Krotch for punting to Hester.  You, sir, are a moron.

3rd Quarter again: Thank you again, Todd Sour Krotch, for kicking to Hester.  You, Sir, are a moron.

3rd Q again: Man, can Adam Archuleta tackle/cover anyone.  Can anyone on this Defense cover anyone?

4rt Quarter: I hate this team for staying in the game and making me watch them.  They are pissing me off - I can't believe I stayed to watch this game.  Wait - was Berrian in?  I love this team!  Chad, I LOVE YOU for having a parachat!  I LOVE EVERYONE!

... then my family takes me away from parachat - they eat dinner while I check out the other TV during OT.  I head outside and scream so that people three miles away can hear me after Gould kicks the FG.  Unreal.

I wouldn't ever go out to hurt anybody deliberately - unless it was, you know, important, like a league game or something. - Dick Butkus
