Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Wednesday Links

Not that it affects anything with only one game left, but Mark Anderson is done for the season with a knee injury.

Anderson was injured during the Bears' loss at Minnesota the previous Monday. He is tied for third on the team with five sacks and is fifth on the defensive line with 36 tackles.

Another case being made for moving Urlacher to weak side linebacker.

With Briggs, ahem, nursing his injured hip against the Packers, Williams made a tackle for a loss on his first snap of the day and got better after that. He finished with six solo tackles and deflected a pass.

The showing provided a glimpse why the Bears believe Williams possesses enough smarts and skill to play any of the three linebacker spots in their Cover-2 system. That includes the middle, where he now backs up Urlacher.

Charles Tillman and Lance Briggs both fined for hits versus the Vikings.

... Tillman is the latest player to be sanctioned, and he was fined $7,500 for using the banned technique to drag down Vikings wide receiver Robert Ferguson.

Briggs was fined $5,000 for a second-quarter hit on Jackson, a play where he hit the quarterback in the head after a 19-yard completion. Briggs was flagged for a personal foul, the penalty moved the ball to the Bears' 28-yard line, and the drive culminated in a Vikings field goal.

if willams
can shed a block, which urlacher doesn't seem to be able to do then he should be playing Mike.

Not to take away anything Urlacher
has done at the Mike, but I recall since his rookie year people were saying he could be the best ever at  weak side.  Obviously, he has done quite nicely in the middle, but it always has been there.

Horse Collar
Am i the only one who thinks this is a BS rule?  So what if Owens got hurt that way.  People get hurt every week.  It's a fact of NFL liife.  If you can still legally tackle a guy by his dreadlocks how is the horse collar illegal?
