Briggs May Get His Wish

Despite reports earlier last week that they had not expressed interest in cranky linebacker Lance Briggs, the Washington Redskins have since changed their minds.

It is now being reported that they are attempting to  make a trade.  The problem is the trade is just a simple swap of first round draft picks.  The Redskins currently hold the 6th pick and the Bears the 31st.

Personally, I am torn.  As much as I would like to see the Bears stick it to Briggs in the end it might be best for all to get him out of here.  The big problem is I don't like the price.  If anything just Briggs for their first, but to throw in our first seems a bit pricey to me.  If first round picks are to be swapped I think the Bears need to pull some more picks out of it.  A nice second and/or third would probably be alright for me.

As for moving up to 6th as the rest of you, it would be interesting to see what Angelo can pull off.  I don't think any of us really thinks he would draft from that position.  If he were to trade down from there that would give the Bears 3 picks in the first 37.

If we get the 6th
Oh man... I'd be like Rob Schneider's Orgasm Guy SNL character. With it we could easily fill any holes in the secondary (Landry) or get a replacement for Briggs. Though the Redskins need to offer a little more than a swap of first rounders for a pro bowl talent like Briggs.

With pick #6
Would it be crazy to pick Brady Quinn if he fell?

I don't know if it would be crazy
but it wouldn't happen.  Angelo and Smith have put too much media time into telling everybody that Grossman is our guy, if they drafted Quinn they would be admitting that they were wrong and couldn't say they screwed up.

i would hope
that they had a better reason than that to decide on whether to draft quinn. they are both here for a long time, i think they can afford to replace their own mistakes, if they view them as such.

not really
we are in our window right now.  Quinn wouldn't be ready for a few years.  If they think we need a different QB to win this thing, then they need to go get a vet of some sort.

i agree
i was saying i hope they have a better reason to draft/not draft quinn than "we can't draft quinn because it will be admitting we screwed up".

I can buy that
but in our window is a reason and a pretty good one.

Bad deal imo
Yeah #6 pick, but there better be a topper in there somewhere. 2nd round pick next year or a 3rd this year or something....

One paper speculated on some LB from Mississippi who impressed in the combine if we move up...
