He has experience in the defense and with Tank out, Dusty an unknown and Adams more of a back up, Simon makes a lot of sense for the Bears.  Also, since Simon has played 2-gap during his career he has experience engaging the center and guard at the same time, which would be more than welcome with Harris shooting his gap and getting up field.

This should be done.
