Around SBN: Peyton Manning Medically Cleared To Resume NFL Career

Tank's BAC = .072

The results of Tank's blood test are back. This all comes from the incident on June 22, when he was pulled over going 40 in a 25. He was under Arizona's legal limit (.08).

Johnson's blood alcohol level was .072, under the presumptive limit in Arizona of .08 percent, Gilbert police Sgt. Andrew Duncan said. No charges have been filed pending results of a completed investigation, and Duncan declined further comment.

Johnson, whose legal name is Terry Darnell Johnson, was arrested when officers pulled him over at 3:30 a.m. for driving 40 mph in a 25 mph zone. Duncan said an officer placed him under arrest because he believed Johnson was under the influence of alcohol. He was released without being booked or charged after providing a blood sample, and police said he was very cooperative.

I must say that I am actually surprised by the fact that he was not over the limit. I bet this will restart the debate over whether releasing Tank was a good idea or premature.

Tank must have been right at .08 or just barely under when driving, because he had some time to sober up slightly on the drive back to the station for the test.

no we don't
I don't know the facts on the case but drinking enough that can almost make you legally drunk and then driving is a bad idea when you are already in trouble.  And you don't know the facts in the case.  You do realize that his BAC could have been over .08 while driving, then dipped below it after the alcohol free ride to the police station. It is not clear where they took the sample, but if they took blood, I will bet it wasn't for nearly a half hour after he was pulled over.  Blood alcohol can drop .008 in that time.

He was drunk and by stalling, he beat the rap.

He got blood taken
which means after he was pulled over he was brought to the police station and checked in.  The police undoubtedly attempted to question him, but as a person with experience in these matters didn't say anything.  He would then have the blood drawn, likely up to an hour after being pulled over.  If he  measured .072 in the test, he was easily over the limit while driving.  That being said, the fact that he was randomly in Arizona out late at night getting pulled over by the police after receiving notice that he was on his last chance, is reason enough to cut him.  Him being a dumbass and drinking and driving is just icing on the Tank Doesn't Get It Cake!!!

wonder what .08
does to a 300 pound man.

my guess is absolutely nothing.

For a 300lb man,
Tank would need to drink 8 beers over 2 hours to reach a .079 BAC

He would need to 10 beers over 4 hours to reach a .08 BAC

Because of his weight, Tank would need to drink a lot more beers (or shots) than the average person to reach this level. After 7 or 10 beers, I bet Tank was surprised when he actually passed the blood test.

.08
is all relative.  .08 will make you feel the same as it would tank.  it just takes more booze to get him to .08.

If I recall correctly he
wasn't arrested for being over the limit.  It was something like being impaired to the slightest degree.  Doesn't sound like anybody said or thought he was over the limit.

That said, we don't look stupid at all.  He just got out of jail, so he goes has some drinks and then goes driving at 3am?  All that does is continue to show that Tank has a lack of good judgment.  It probably would only be a matter of time before he falters again, better it isn't on our team.

If kept him and he got arrested again, everybody would be all over us for not getting rid of the guy this time.

Exactly what I said when it happened.
He was close to the limit, and was probably over it at some point while driving. The fact is, if he doesn't get caught, and makes it home safe, he probably drinks a little more the next time.

He may have continued to toe the line the rest of his career, but my bet (without ever knowing for sure) is that he would have clearly crossed it eventually.

Besides, the fact that he drank and then drove shows that he wasn't taking the "extra good boy" approach that he promised. That's enough to justify letting him go.

amen
if you care about character as much as the Bears claim you can't keep guys on your team that keep getting into the news for things like this. I liked Tank, but it was time for him to go.
first the Rush...now the Bears.
