Disrespecting our Defense

This isn't a rant against news media (newspapers, TV, magazines, blogs, etc) but rather against a couple of advertisers.

Specifically, EA Sports and Nike.

EA Sports - In this advertisement for tomorrow's Madden '08, there is a scene that could only exist in fantasy.  At the 0:45 point in the clip, we are cut-over to a Bears-Packers game.  Brett Farve [sic] hands of to rookie Brandon Jackson.  Lo and behold, Brian Urlacher is right there for an imminent tackle-for-a-loss.  Wait...  WHAT?  There is  no physical universe in which Urlacher dives over Jackson, completely missing that tackle.

Nike - While EA's offense was egregious, it is a pittance when compared to this offering from Nike.  It is one thing to make one player look bad in missing a tackle.  It is something completely different to make an entire defense look inept.  Basically, this commercial is one entire minute of just that - the Bears defense bungling about.  I'll give you that LT is a phenomenal talent who is immensely capable, but he's not so good that he makes the best defense in the NFL look like tackling dummies.

Luckily, we get to avenge these offenses early this year.  After Week 1 I hope we never see that commercial again, because reality was the complete opposite.  Week 5 is Brian's first opportunity to "welcome" Mr. Jackson to the NFL.

Here's to making EA and Nike eat their images.
