Wesley all but gone

Cornerback Dante Wesley, signed by the Bears in 2006 from the Carolina Panthers, is headed elsewhere. He was made expendable by the rapid development of rookie Trumaine McBride. "Dante is not in our plans anymore," Smith said. "We're seeing what options there are out there for him."

Wow. That's kind of surprising.
The last I'd heard in any of the reports was that Wesley was doing extremely well.  I don't remember reading anything about McBride before.

I'm also pretty surprised to see Lovie come out and say that.  Usually he keeps stuff like that pretty close to his chest.

Think Angelo's just on the hunt for more draft picks?

I doubt they trade him
because why would any team trade for a guy who the coach says isnt in the teams plan. I guess some  secondary hungry could give us a seventh rounder.

Market?
What's his salary? Is it low? Would he command more as a free agent? Would his price go up if he were allowed to choose?

I agree, but one just never knows. They did just get a 5th-rounder for a backup safety. Not the same caliber, but obviously if they're looking to trade him, other GM's knew Harris wasn't in the Bears' plans.

Larry Myers answers this exact question
in today's Chalk Talk.  It's not a whole lot more informative than the guesses we've made here, but he's a little bit closer to the guy making the decisions, so his guess is at least slightly more educated.

Basically, the Bears might be able to get a low round pick for him.
