Rivera ripping Rex

Does this seem childish to anyone else?  As a former  Bears player and loved coach, you would think he would have some loyalties.

Verbal tongue lashing
or the truth?

Guess we'll never know. Pretty lame thing to say but who knows what he knows.

Sour Grapes
He had to take a demotion, so go after the easy target.  I don't care if it is true, no need to go there.

Really?
You don't care if the Rex is actually a "mental midget"?

I do agree that it should have never been said though.

That was more of a means to suggest it didn't need
to get said.

If he gets the job done, I don't care how smart he is.

Vince Young is everybody's darling and didn't he score something like a 7 on the Wonderlic?

I really don't have a problem with Rivera
It was reported that by a San Diego player that Rivera made the quote. Rivera is a coach and I'm sure that every Defensive coach is saying the same thing to his players, Rex is a mental midget when he gets pressured.

Now is Rivera suppose to coach his players any different because he coached and played for the Bears? I don't think so and the problem was really with the player that had to let this be known to the media.

Great point!
Everyone forgets (in their need to defend Rex) that this was a linebacker coach coaching his players. You actually think he should be "nice" about other players when trying to teach or psych his players up?

"No need to go there." ?!?! That's an absolutely ridiculous statement. Especially since Rivera never said it to the media.

for a team that thrives on being slighted
i expect all the smack from the chargers being quite useful for us.  seems like the team is pretty pissed and has rex and ced's backs, based on the comments in the press. this will probably play out very well for us this season.
