Divisional Playoffs Open Thread

If Windy ends up posting on the Front page a thread for playoff games, I can always delete this one.  I just thought we could have a diary where we could post our insights about this week's games.

Saturday's games are Seattle v. Green Bay (3:30 Chicago time) and Jacksonville v. New England (7
Chi time).

Sunday's games are San Diego v. Indianapolis (noon Chicago time) and New York Giants v. Dallas (3:30).

Star-divide

I suppose my initial thoughts are that I'd like to see Seattle win just because I am born to hate the Packers, although I do like Favre.  I really want to see Jacksonville win so that the US sports media will immediately lose their perfection erections.  Indy and San Diego I don't really care, although I guess I'll somewhat cheer for the Chargers since we played them relatively tough way back in week 1.  And I despise both Dallas and New York Giants, so I probably will refrain from even commenting on that game.

Uneven days..
I really expect a couple of close games today. I'm picking Seattle to win because I don't think the Packers can handle their 3 receiver sets. And then I think the Jags will manage not to get blown out tonight.

But as for tomorrow I don't feel bad at all that I have to work and will miss the games. I mean honestly do Norv Turner and Phillip Rivers really have a chance IN Indy against Dungy and Manning? I think not. And people have jumped on the Giants bandwagon putting their faith in Eli to pull the upset, so what's the over/under on his INTs this game? I say 2.5 and I'll take the over.

owchee ...
first play for Pack does not bode well.  fumble on the 1?

double ouch
It sucks to be down 2 TDs less than 5min in.

21-14 Pack.  Fast break football right now.

Where's the pash rush?
Seriously they are triple teaming Patrick Kerney (something the Bears should've done this year instead of letting him go one-on-one with Fred Miller) and no one else has gotten any pressure. The way to get the Favre mistakes is to get in his face.

0 for 1
Wow.. apparently Seattle's Defense missed the flight to Green Bay. How did that team make the playoffs and we are sitting at home?

Or ...
how the hell did we beat the Pack TWICE?

Not a lot of defense to speak of in that game.

Pats are as efficient of an offense ...
right now, as the Colts were in 2004.  That's who they remind me of.  Seems like whatever they want to do they can do.

Chargers
got f** up the ass on that holding call at the end of the half that negated the INT TD.

What a dumb rule
why does it cost a timeout if the clock was already stopped (Wayne's injury)...
Visit The Cub Reporter (mvn.com/mlb-cubs)

by thecubreporter on Jan 13, 2008 3:16 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

because
the play clock was not started as per usual.  In other words, Wayne would not have gotten off the field in time.

Incidentally, the pass interference call on the Chargers at the end there was complete bullshit.  Fortunately for them, the next play there was a 15 yard penalty on the Colts lineman.

Peyton and the Colts made with the devil last year seems to have ended...

Pats will win by more than ___ points next week.

I also feel the need to point out
what a horrible, pathetic loss by the Colts today. They couldn't beat a team that lost its best player, its QB and its best receiver was hobbling...at home.

Awful...

Dallas and Gints ...
is it possible for both of these teams to lose?  Kind of how I felt when the Yankees and Mets played in the 2000 Series.  I HATES EM BOTH!!!!!!!

WHAT!
A double loss would put Favre in the Super Bowl.  Are you sure you want that?  I don't.  I'd much rather see Dallas vs. Brady.

This is a double-f'ing dilemma ...
I have come to the realization that I now hate all the teams still alive in the playoffs.

Nice drive at the end of the half there for the Gints, in any case.  14-14, games are a bit better today, more competitive.

The juxtaposition
of 2 of their diary titles at Blogging the Boys

is rather poetic as well...

Sadly, the only reason I take real joy in the Cowboys defeat is "Terry".

hit that really cool homer.  Romo has now dropped the ball for a gimme kick and threw an INT to a double covered receiver.

NFC championship game ...
consists of one team that we beat twice, and another team that we should have, could have, beaten.

Great games today, though.  Really competitive and fun to watch, even though I hate most of these teams.

No Win?
Either the Pats complete perfection and Tom Brady and Randy Moss pop champagne corks for the next 35 years...
OR
The most obnoxious, loud mouthed, bunch of whinny b*tches coached by Norv Turner win a title...
OR
Brett Favre hoists the Lombardy trophy again, John Madden's head explodes, the Packer fan's get to hold it over our heads for years, and someone Favre ends up president in 2028...
OR
A Manning wins the Super Bowl for the 2nd consecutive year by leading the worst team to ever make it to a Super Bowl to victory...

Can we just hit the reset button on the 2007-8 season? Someone tell me this is just a really bad episode of the twightlight zone.
