Bears News and Notes - 10-1-08
*** Bears current offensive and defensive ranks:
Offense
Defense
*** Former Bears running back Cedric Benson days after being cleared has signed with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Considering the situation of running backs on this team, I like this move. We need to bolster the position after injuries and questionable cuts and lack of production. Look, we're 0-4; there's not one thing we shouldn't try.
*** Want to view Windy City Gridiron on your mobile phone? Now you can. There is a new mobile version of all SB sites when you log in from your cell phone.
*** Charles Tillman is still listed as questionable. Tillman would be a big loss this week against Detroit who has two very big and talented receivers.

OT question:
I know this is not the thread for this, but just wanted to get a quick question in for the bears fans.
I need a TE: do I go with Olsen or Clark?
Thanks in advance for any input.

Based on this year so far
you go with Olsen, but really it could be week to week. They both are capable of some big games. At some point Clark will get less and less in favor of Olsen, but Clark is still the starter.

For a team that can't seem to generate a pass rush w/ the d-line
We have a great run defense rank. If we improved the pass defense (which I don’’t think we can w/o Tillman) we could be a top 10 defense. As for the offense, it only needs to improve a bit, I’d say like 5 or 6 spots and that would be great.
Fire Ron Turner!!!

you have to put a lot of that on the scheme
Obviously if you are running a Cover 2 there is room to throw. The announcers did a good job of showing how McNabb was changing up where he was throwing to based on the D the Bears were running.
So you can have a defense that has a poor pass defense and it be by design to some extent. Let them constantly have the 5-10 yarders and make them ding and dunk all they want. With the guys we have the longer you are on the field better chance one of our guys is going to get to you and cause the turnover.

Reallly hope Peanut & Vash
can play. Them hurt reminds me too much of last year in Detroit.
Even if they don’t have Martz anymore, games we’re “supposed” to win scare me.

Not just that
last year we didn’t have either starting safety in either.
Corey Graham is better prepared this week if he has to step in , but losing are biggest and most physical CB in a game with two very good and tall receivers is a bit scary.

We'll just have to keep them off the field.
Forte could… and hopefully should… have a BIG game.
I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.

Unless Ron Turner
lets last week’s success go to his head and he comes out with trick plays and deep routes.

yeah
if he goes back to vanilla we’ll here about how much his gameplan sucked, if he comes out tricky we’ll hear about….how his gameplan sucked.

We put points on the board versus Indy, Philly and TB
we should be able to against Detroit. It really comes down to can we stop them with a banged up secondary.
