Bears News and Notes - 10/13/08

*** Grading out the Bears.

Quarterback:

B+ Kyle Orton made big plays, avoided bad ones and came through in the clutch. With 2:43 left, he went 6-for-10 for 67 yards and a perfect TD pass.

*** Although problems existed in more than just the last play, DC Babich and Mike Brown are taking responsbility for the last second grab that setup the winning FG for Atlanta.

''He was open, man,'' Brown said. ''You can blame me. I should've made the play, didn't. That's the bottom line.''

*** Now would be an ideal time for  Nathan Vasher to ready to play, because the Bears secondary is going down fast.  Tillman left the game yesterday with his arm in a sling.  Trumaine McBride also suffered a shoulder injury.  Danieal Manning also has a hamstring injury.

*** As reported by Sackman, Terrance Metcalf has been suspended for 4 games for violating the league's banned substance policy.

In the non-Bear NFC notes:

Seems that the Lions are looking to get rid of Jon Kitna and Roy Williams before tommorrow's deadline.  Reportedly, San Franciso was called about Williams, but was not interested and San Fran officials have said they have no interest in Kitna.

Talk about kicking a team while down.  The Cowboys didn't just lose their game yesterday to the Cardinals.   They may have lost their season.  QB Tony  Romo is out at least 4 weeks with a broken pinkie.  Punter Matt McBriar, possibly the best punter in the league, is out 6-8 with a broken foot that was suffered on that blocked punt.  Word is due to their injuries he may have to be put on the injured reserve.   Felix Jones is also out at least 2 weeks with a hamstring problem.  While we don't know how long Terrance Newman is out, reports are that the NFL is close to handing out some type of punishment to Pacman Jones.  WR Sam Hurd is out for the season with a high ankle sprain.

I have no sympathy for the Cowboys

They lived a charmed life last year in the injury department; they just have to learn to deal with it like the Bear’s did.
