Buenning or Williams to be active?

According to the Brad Biggs article an the Sun Times:

Guard Dan Buenning and tackle Chris Williams got extra work after practice. One of them will be active for the first time Sunday to fill the void created by veteran guard Terrence Metcalf's suspension.

This sounds like good news to me for a few reasons.  1) It means that someone other than Terrance Metcalf will be on the field for the Bears.  2) It's fantastic to hear that Chris Williams is getting "extra work" so quickly after his surgery.  Hopefully this speaks both to his work ethic and to the possibility that he will be on the field at some point for the Bears.

Personally my money is on seeing Buenning suit up this weekend but it sure would be great to see St. Clair replaced at left tackle ASAP.

Agreed

It would probably be Buenning, he hasn’t been with the team that long but I don’t know how long it takes to learn a new offense as far as blocking goes. But yeah somebody has to step in for Metcalf and I don’t think playing a rookie tackle at guard makes sense.

Fire Ron Turner!!!
Fire Angelo!!

buenning was supposed to be pretty good, right?

we definitely need more inside blocking help. i’m glad to hear williams is practicing again, but i think we need to bring him along slowly. we don’t want any injury aggravation. and truthfully, i’ve been pleasantly surprised with st. clair at LT.

st. clair

has played consistently well. Of course, he’s given up a couple sacks, but I haven’t noticed him make too many bad plays. I would like to see our running game used a bit more, once again, but I know the Vikings defense is solid upfront. Perhaps we can change that.

My wife and I were walking in front of Desmond Clark last night, downtown by ESPNZone. Perhaps he’ll have a breakout game on the season. That’s not logical, but hopeful.

Probably won't see Williams until after the BYE

I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.
