Based on recent history, this is a good week to be Kyle Orton. The Chicago quarterback will be facing his favorite opponent Sunday when Detroit arrives at Soldier Field.

In three previous starts against the Lions, Orton is 3-0 with a 105.5 passer rating. That includes a career-high 334-yard performance earlier this month in Detroit. In his other 23 NFL starts, Orton is 13-9 with a 67.3 rating.

Here are the particulars:

Kyle Orton vs. Detroit and Rest of the NFL
Opponent Games Record Comp. Att. Pct. Yards TDs INTs Rating
Detroit 3 3-0 55 86 63.9 714 4 0 105.5
Rest of NFL 23 13-9 321 592 54.2 3,302 18 19 67.3

And the Lions haven't exactly improved their pass defense in the three games since Orton's career day against them. Check out the performances of the ensuing starters:

Performance of last three QBs to play Detroit

Oct. 12 Minnesota Gus Frerotte 18 33 54.5 296 1 1 82.4
Oct. 19 Houston Matt Schaub 26 31 83.0 267 2 0 124.1
