FedEx Air Player of the Week
I'm just curious why Orton didn't get a nom.
- New York Giants’ ELI MANNING threw two touchdowns over 267 yards completing 19 of 25 passes in the Giants’ 44 – 6 win over the Seattle Seahawks.
Pittsburgh’s BEN ROETHLISBERGER completed 26 of 41 passes for 309 yards and three touchdowns in the Steelers’ 26 – 21 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Arizona’s KURT WARNER completed 33 of 42 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns in the Cardinals’ 41 – 17 win over the Buffalo Bills.

because he faced detroit
and was below average in terms of the amount of passing yards they have given up this year…

Well, I can kill this argument
Both of you are wrong, and it’s not even close.
Week 1 against the Falcons: Matt Ryan was 9/13 for 161 yards and 1 TD
Week 2 against the Packers: Aaron Rodgers was 24/38 for 328 yards and 3 TD’s
Week 3 against the 49ers: JT O’Sullivan was 16/23 for 189 yards and 2 TD’s
Week 5 against the Bears: Kyle Orton was 24/34 for 334 yards and 2 TD’s
Let’s take a looksie at efficiency. Kyle Orton was the most efficient (70.5). JT O’Sullivan was next in efficiency with 69.5, Matt Ryan third with 69.2% and Aaron Rodgers brings up the rear with 63.1%.
So, Orton was the most efficient and threw for the most yards out of all of them. The only statistic he loses out on was TD’s.

And the Giants played the Seahawks
The Seahawks are 1-3. Not that far off from being 0-4.

and the Lions are still considered an NFL team if I am correct
It isnt Ortons fault they played a bad team… I mean come on now, where the hell do you draw the line…

obviously...
… they are still an NFL team. And it is not Orton’s fault that the Bears played a bad team.
BUT… you still need to be able to judge a player’s performance in the correct context. A big passing game against the Lions is nothing special.

Even though
most people had already written Orton off? Most people gave the Bears ZERO chance of competing this year and that Orton would be terrible. I find it hard to believe that the reason he played the Lions is why he isn’t nominated. Favre got his own segment on SC because he threw 6 TDs against the shitty Cardinals secondary. Orton should be on there over Warner(better stats) and Roethlisberger(INT return for TD) considering he doesn’t have nearly the offensive weapons that Ben and Kurt have.

Remember, most in the sports world has an East Coast bias
That’s about all I can pin it on.

Doesn't make sense
does it? Oh well, as long as he continues to improve and the Bears keep playing well, I don’t care one way or the other.

That's all it comes down
We’ll keep throwing him praise if he keeps doing well. That’s about all a Chicago Bears QB can ask for. lol

Um... 6 TD's are vastly better than 300 yds passing.
And Cardinals actually have an okay passing defense.

fair enough...
… that is what i get for not doing my own research and trusting what other people say.
But still… it was Detroit. They are awful, and we really, really cannot take anything (or at least, not much) meaningful (other than the win) from this game.

FWIW...
… what I heard, and it is true, is based on QG ratings, not on yards, TDs, or %:
Ryan: 137.0
Rodgers: 117.0
O’Sullivan: 123.3
Orton: 121.4
To be fair to Orton though, I don’t believe that QB ratings are very effective tools to look at individual games.
But in terms of honest comparisons – all four quarterbacks had huge days against Detroit, because, well, Detroit really, really sucks.

For sure
I mean, it was a pretty meaningless win, but I am kinda surprised that Eli Manning got a nomination against 1-3 Seattle and Orton didn’t. Not that he should have won it, I’m not arguing that, but he should have had a nomination.

over 75% comp. %age is a big deal, though
Especially on 25 attempts. And he had more yards per attempt.
I think you’d have a better argument against the other guys, based on stats, but then Roethlisberger made that great pass to Ward towards the end of the game.
Warner’s the one he should be replacing: worse total stats, worse efficiency, blowout win (so less "meaningful")…

Not the Lions
It’s because he doesn’t have the reputation or history that Warner, Big Ben, or Eli have. Detroit is awful, but isn’t that what a good QB should do against an inferior opponent? If he continues to play well then he’ll get his 15 minutes.
