Green Bay Packers VS. Chicago Bears - Second Half Game Thread

Sorry for the delay.

Ron Turner called for a terrible offensive series at the end of the half that led to three points for the Pack. Our run defense has also been terrible.

Our D is getting old ...

lots of guys hurt which never helps as well. But methinks this is what a defense looks like when a lot of its stars are getting close to past their prime. Not quite past yet, but close.

I'm not so mean. I wouldn't ever go out to hurt anybody deliberately - unless it was, you know, important, like a league game or something. - Dick Butkus

They have anti-aging pills.

Don’t know, that’s a good point. Let me think about that as our D continues to give the Pack its best day yet for rushing.

by Waylon on Nov 16, 2008 2:11 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

We have one of two problems.

1) We either have bad players and need new players to play Lovies defense.
2) We have a bad scheme and need a new Coach to take advantage or our players.

I’m going to go with the latter.

I have long....

questioned the ability of the the coaching staff dating back to their super bowl run. Doesn’t matter that there have been changes in the coaching staff between now and then. Their stubborn inability to make adjustments in the offseason, during game prep. and on game day continues to plague our team.

Horribe (non) adjustments, horrible game plans, horrible clock management, horrible decisions at critical times, all points to the individuals managing this team on gameday. Quite frankly, its surprising to me that we sit at 5-5 (after today) and still in the thick of the division. Even if we do make a playoff appearance, unless the staff gets an “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”going it will be a one and out.

besides the obvious scheme issues

what do you all think is the next step for the defense going forward? i mean, this is an absolute destruction, following several weeks of total destruction. besides altering the scheme (which won’t happen, obviously), what do you think realistically happens (if anything) for next week’s game?

by guy incognito on Nov 16, 2008 2:30 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

nothing by next week

i think you need different personelle. you’re running a base defense that you are no longer able to execute well, and the guys running it are ill fitted for many other schemes. your lineman are "speed’ guys allegedly that allows them to get blocked down pretty much at will. need big athletic corners who can cover in man. the bears secondary really doesn’t look that athletic when comapred to other teams.

not sure

orton’s rookie year can somehow make his play this year overrated, since players actually improve over their career, but whatever, its an overplayed argument.

I say our Coaches suck

Game was out of hand and we have an injured QB. Why not give Hanie a shot to see what he can do?

by beardown on Nov 16, 2008 2:41 PM CST reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Another reason to hate the coaches.

At least Orton has a bum leg, Rex showed he should not be on the team

by beardown on Nov 16, 2008 2:43 PM CST to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

then he shouldn't have played

blame the coaches and Orton on that

the offense...

Don’t get me wrong – the defense was really bad, but the offense wasn’t any better.

get orton out of there

this is a massacre. he’s obviously not 100%. that he hasn’t been pulled yet is another sign how horribly bad our coaching is.

GB

GB played almost a perfect game. If you look at this globally we have a 3-1 record in the division still tied at the top if Min scores stays the same.
Next week we go to ST Louis and we better figure out a defensive game plan there. We still have a very good chance to make the playoffs and we control our own destiny.

williams should have played most of the 4th quarter

we were out of this game by the middle of last quarter – well, actually, since the opening kick. might as well get him some real game experience.
