The Bob Babich Removal Petition
After todays game I was disgusted with our defense. I can only assume that most Bears fans agree with me. I've been given this impression with the coverage in the news lately about our players losing their faith in the play calling. When I hear them speak they sound disheartened but do not want to place any blame on their coaches or any scheme. They want the blame all their own. I cannot after todays loss place the blame on player performance as the players would want us to believe. I truly believe the blame to lie on the one controlling our defense.
I feel it is time for the Chicago Bears to part with Bob Babich. This is supposed to be one of the most feared defenses in the NFC and even the entire NFL. It is time to return to that greatness and cut the weak link.
It is to my belief that members of the Chicago Bears organization look into fan sites and evaluate how their fans are reacting to the way OUR TEAM is being managed. If you believe that it is time to part with Bob Babich as our defensive coordinator please let your voice be heard, if not your opinion is respected.

Yes and here's why...
Normally I would never call for one’s head after a year; let alone 10 games, but in Babich’s case, i’m not only calling for it i’m screaming for it!
1. Nathan Vasher is at risk of losing his starting job (pro bowler) to a 5th round draft pick (Graham)
2. How many sacks do we have this year? Pathetic
3. We basically have the same personnel as we did in XLI, and now we cant cover the broad side of a barn?
4. We let a rookie (Ryan), 2 guys who are older than favre and less talented (Frerotte, Collins), and a lions quarterback (orlovsky) throw or career high yards. Pitiful.
5. Tackling anybody? We used to swarm to the ball and hit the ball carrier by at least 6 guys, now 6 guys are attempting arm tackles and getting left in the dust.
Yes, it’s time for him to go. I’ll give turner one more year because in games this year he has shown good play calling that has been effective (vikings game). Keep Lovie, he’s a good coach and he deserves to stick around and lead us to another super bowl.
Thanks for reading, BEAR DOWN!

Bob Babich was the defensive coordinator all of last year also.

I believe Babich is being out-coached
Lovie and crew are beyond stubborn. Lovie keeps thinking that everything he is doing now got us to the Super Bowl two years ago, but the fact of the matter is this is a different NFL even two years displaced. Not to mention letting Ron Rivera go was a complete mistake. We’ve become one dimensional on defense and teams have more than caught on to what we do. The reason we’ve had a lot of offensive success is because Ron Turner has put faith in Kyle Orton’s ability to call the audible and thus can open up the playbook. I think our defense is disheartened and from their own words don’t have much faith in their coaches. I just pray that this week Lovie is working the guys harder than ever before during this season because of what happened this Sunday.

A little from column A... and a little from column B.
But column b can be solved by a kick in the ass which this staff seems completely unable or unwilling to deliver. Maybe someone getting a pink slip would help.

JA is still in charge
couldn’t he take some control here? Tell Lovie his job is at stake if doesn’t start turning this thing around?

1st place
As long as we are tied for first JA will do nothing. He probably won’t do anything even if we aren’t in 1st.
If things came easy, then everybody would be great at what they did, let's face it.

I Still Want
To keep Lovie, as my first experience with football coincided with Dave Wannstadt’s first year, and I’d rather have Lovie than risk a new guy going all ’Stache or Dick “Still Living off of the 2001 Bears” Jauron on the team.
But Babich has to go. His treatment of this defense is reminiscent of Herm Edwards’ absolute crippling of the excellent Kansas City Chiefs offense (does anyone remember that the Chiefs were a potent offense as recently as like three years ago?) – and he’s done it in an even shorter amount of time.
I’m all for canning the offensive coordinator as well. How either Turner keeps getting employed by NFL teams is beyond me.
But I seem to be willing to give Lovie a lot more time than some others here.
Insert clever and witty remark slash pun here!

I don't think this defense is Babich's though
its Lovies scheme.
I want improvement as much as everyone here, but really I’m still not certain firing Babich will really FIX things.

Your are right...
Firing Babich won’t fix too much, but it would certainly show Lovie’s true worth running a defense. If Babich left and Lovie took the reins, and the Bears improve, then Lovie looks like a hero who is earning that extension he was given. However, if he took over, and our pathetic defense didn’t improve, then Lovie might be the next out the door.
I still think Lovie is a great football mind, but a lot of our defensive players seem to have gotten soft. The talent is still there, but at some positions we are getting old, and some just seem to be playing soft. Not a good combo for a D with so much talent.
As far as fixing things, we need to get better offensive players. Period. And I am well aware that we are getting to that point, but we are far from it right now. Our RB and TE positions are set, but that’s all on offense. JA just needs to keep cranking out good draft picks, and in 2 or 3 years we might be able to compete with Green Bay (they will be scary good for the next few years).

A little late but...
If people on here are supportive of a total regime change then you’re completely clueless. A new regime would bring a new scheme, then that new coaching staff would need to change the existing personnel. Do you know how long that would take to see positive results? Probably longer than a year or two.

Total regime, yes
Babich alone, no. Babich could get the axe and we’d be ok.
