NFL Teams Listen To Outsiders
Now this is just an opinion article written by a sports writer from the USA Today, but because there was discussion on this site if any management personnel listened to people outside their office, I thought this would be a nice read.
It was an interesting read, and I tend to agree that their are times when the pressure from the media of TV, Radio, Newspapers, and blogs can influence people. Is it all the time. Nah, definitely not, but does it happen. Yeah I think it does.Fox's Curt Menefee Sunday suggested some NFL teams listen to anybody: "It absolutely amazes me the impact sports talk radio and the Internet has had on the mind-set of people in the NFL. Why let Larry from Longmont on Line 3 influence your decisions? Too many team decision-makers don't know any better because they don't have a football background." So they turn to radio shows?

I'm here every day. I just haven't been into posting lately.
I’m more of a fun/crazy idea poster guy. I enjoy the debate part. Right now, there isn’t much to debate. Maybe Rex vs. Kyle will be back up. To play or not to play Chris Williams is another discussion piece, but most of us don’t care too much. I also like writing something wild once in a while like that JA reads WCG. I like to get the uptight guys freeking out a little and calling me a loon.

In theory if you aren't a football guy
and don’t really know what is going on and you don’t have a football guy in the organization to rely on, I suppose you one might look for somebody elses opinion, but I don’t know if I am ready to buy that they let an ordinary blogger or caller influence them.
Maybe a site that has the following like AN or BCB which have a substantial amount of readers could promote enough venom toward a player or situation that a higher up might add that to his overall thinking, but not let it decide it.
If there is a top guy who is letting Larry from Longmont calling into a hot air machine like Cowherd, Patrick or Rome then he needs to be league removed from his spot.

Forget this guys article, but
my opinion is that public opinion can wear on some of these guys. I think that blogs and radio shows and media can create a sentiment for certain things to happen and when it seems like everyone agrees with those opinions, it can make you question yourself. If your job is on the line, you may want to please the fans or the people. Also, some owners are swayed by public opinion and could force those issues on their management like getting rid of a guy or trying to get a backup QB promoted. Also, even though a GM or owner or coach may not read some of these blogs, I do think that radio show and newspaper guys may. Think about it: you need a fresh idea for a story or a show and you start combing the blogs for a new thought that most haven’t heard. Then they claim it as their own. They also have a large audience and can bring certain issues to an open discussion and rally fans behind them. I do think journalism has an impact whether small or great and it depends on the situation. If a team is dominant, then no one will listen, but if they are average or worse, everyone will be looking for answers.
Again, I just say it can influence, but is only one element that can have an impact in the decision making process.
