Fox is lame ...
Here in Chicago, Fox isn’t showing any of the noon games … instead, we get Seinfeld reruns.
Hey, sounds better than what I got
I got two hours of cool new technology that wasn’t actually cool. So I’m stuck watching the Bills and Jets.
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
Fox doesn't have any games?
I mean, I’m in Iowa and we usually get 1-2 games on Fox depending on where the station is. Today we have zero.
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
Means Fox should only have one game
The MN game being the bigger game you should have gotten that at 3. Did you not?
Washington Lost, Packer Lost
However Atlanta looks like they are going to win. Go Arizona!!!
They won on a kick in overtime.

they are getting obliterated. maybe this is a consequence of them already clinching their division. atlanta certainly will go hard at the vikings next week.

So....I hate Fox
I have Baltimore – Pittsburgh on TWO freaking channels. Fox has college tennis and golf. Really?
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
i don't know how that is possible
how can balt/pitt be on fox?
Two CBS's and two FOX's
Both CBS channels are showing Baltimore-Pitt; one Fox is showing college tennis and the other Fox is showing golf.
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
Bad sentence structure.
I think he has two CBS’s and two FOX’s. I have two ABC’s in Tampa on Verizon, one for the major area, and another for further south.
Clutch: A measurement of how much better or worse a player does in high leverage situations than he would have done in a context neutral environment. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/glossary/
That's really odd
Usually CBS or FOX has a double header and shows 2 games, while the other shows 1. And it depends on blackout rules. So since I live in MN I never see Bears games even if htey play at a different time than the Vikes due to blackouts.
welp, looks like we need the vikes to lose out and us to win out now..

wow. admittedly, this was the easiest game i though the vikings had left, but arizona is just laying a stinker out there.
you mean playing a division winner on the road?
Atlanta was the easiest on paper. And the Giants may not be playing for anything in week 17.
This was their hardest game.
The Cards have played so well at home
Ugh, this bites. However, throwing teams such as the Cards are built better for comebacks but AZ’s pass rush puts them back at a disadvantage.

Nobody’s polishing a Super Bowl trophy anywhere.
But it was nice to watch the Vikings go out and absolutely destroy a team that nobody gave them a chance against all week long. We weren’t fortunate enough to get one of the three “bye week” teams from the NFC West on our schedule like the Bears did.

Seriously, an asterisk? Then lets put a HUGE asterisk on the 1985 Bears, you can’t tell me that they were all walking the straight and narrow. There is a difference between a team full of coke heads and a guy taking a dietary supplement that was not labeled properly. Furthermore, there is a very big reason why a Federal judge is taking a very close look at the NFL’s policy concerning strict liability and arbitration grievance procedures . . . mainly that they are unjust.

we have the worst offensive coaches in the league
its not shocking that our discards go on to produce elsewhere. when guys like gage and wade are put into situations that maximize their talents, they produce. which is why i’m not shocked guys like haas and bennett are getting no burn. i’m pretty sure they can run 7 yard slant patterns and catch anything thrown to them – those are their strengths, and could help us out a ton. but our coaches…

He doesn't realize that a Minnesota Judge is helping win them a division.
But don’t worry, it’s karma. Because next year, for the first four games, those 2 schmucks will be out watching the QB’less Vikings go 0-4, while a Chicago Bears team with Anquan Boldin is 4-0, so it’ll all even out.
But I’m still holding out hope for this year.

The real question is whether or not
Lovie would allow somebody to implement the correct scheme for our players.
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
There's gonna be a battle between Lovie and Jerry
It’s already been said that Jerry absolutely did not want Babich as DC… to compromise, Lovie had to keep Turner as OC.
Now that Lovie has shown for two straight years that he has no business making those decisions (driving out Rivera and Don Johnson… benching Alex Brown for Mark Anderson… bringing in Adam Archuletta and pushing out Chris Harris, turning the Greatest kick returner in NFL history into a #3 WR), maybe things will finally change.
And BTW, we’re still trying to replace Chris Harris. Absolutely disgusts me.
I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.
Updated on May 25, 2008
Well, Lovie really doesn't have a say
It’s Jerry’s team. Problem is, I highly doubt Jerry will put his foot down and make Bob go away. I really hope so, but I doubt it.
I’m with ya on Chris Harris. That was one of the biggest mistakes we ever made. That’s part of the reason that I don’t want the Bears to release Dusty just yet….he’s got some skill, he just has problems staying healthy. If he stayed healthy for a year and was involved in a meaningful scheme, he could be great. I just don’t want to let him go and watch him blossom some other place.
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
When Lovie went to the SB and got that new contract... his head got bigger...
Now that his big ego has made some big mistakes… maybe he’ll shut his mouth and let Jerry do his job.

Updated on May 25, 2008
BTW...
Lovie “takes pride” in hiring a coaching staff of “teachers.”
Let me ask you this… in the last two years, who on this teams stands out to you as someone who’s learned a lot and grown as a player? It’s sure not any of our safeties… sure not any of our D-lineman… and sure not any of our WRs.
Listened to the radio on Friday: Hub Arkish, Dan Hampton, Lawrence Holmes, and Doug Buffone. One of the conversations: Confusion on why Daniel Manning spends extra time after practice everyday in Lovie’s office learning how to play the Nickel… instead of spending extra time with his DB coach… or Defensive Coordinator. Hmmmm… makes you wonder.
They were also discussing Bennett… Holmes interviewed him and Bennett said he doesn’t know why he’s not playing. Holmes tried to pry to see if he’s getting help from his WR coach. Holmes’ take: they’re not working with him too much.

I hope none of that is true. Otherwise we’ve got bigger problems than just schemes and personnel issues.

I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
i think much of it has to be true
our coaches seem to be absolutely terrible at teaching. look at our WR history. horrible. that the guys go on to have success elsewhere tells you something. if lovie stays, the rest of the staff deserves to get fired.

I dont' know how much he gets to work with Orton
but I hear Pep Hamilton is a pretty good coach and teacher.
Being Who You Thought We Were Since 2005!
Is he not?
I don’t think our problems are all or mostly on him. He lost some guys, mainly BA from last year. This year guys have been getting pulled to fill various places. Now AP is being used some.
That doesn’t even count Hester who has a load of his own problems.
Manning has been playing very well. The blocking is still there, you just have to have a guy to get through it.
Being Who You Thought We Were Since 2005!
To add to that
I wonder how much time Toub gets with Hester to try to work through his problems? I’d guess he spends all his time with the offense learning to be a receiver.
Being Who You Thought We Were Since 2005!
Oh, I agree
Like you said, I don’t know how much time Toub has with Hester to work on his problems. I would assume not much.
Manning’s done well.
I know we lost guys on ST, but it was a pretty big dropoff too. That’s why I believe we need to take the crown off his head for now.
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
I'll agree that the head coach talk
from last year was a bit much, but I don’t think we need to take anything away from him. He didn’t create the hype.
Although, with Belichick’s recent comments about ST coaches, maybe the hype will go up.
Being Who You Thought We Were Since 2005!
As far as scheme goes...
They’re already blitzing more than ever under Lovie this year. So, maybe he’ll open up and evolve.
Would love to see a real 350lb run stuffing DT next to T. Harris, and Peanut Tillman moved to FS, while adding a better SS in the draft.
Then, bring in an experienced defensive coordinator, who excels in designing effective blitz packages, and better utilize #54, #55, #97, and #38 in the blitz.
My final note and then I’ll shut up: Mark Anderson could become a major weapon if you get creative with him: ex: get him standing up instead of in a 3 point stance… or run stunts with him.

i'd like to see briggs in the middle
urlacher and whoever on the sides, at least see if briggs can shed the blocks urlacher can’t.
i like this group as a 3-4 better with anderson standing up.
maybe let tillman play up close since he’s really good at it, instead of putting him back 12 yards.
i still want spagnolo, but he might be a 3-4 guy only.
I agree with the 3-4 issue
SackMan does bring up a good point if we trudge on with the Cover 2….we need a big boy (ala Ted Washington) in the middle.
Tillman needs to play closer. Can’t believe Lovie doesn’t see that.
But you want Briggs in the middle? It seems to me that Urlacher’s lost a step….I mean, Briggs has been a beast, so I know he’d be fine at the Mike. But would Urlacher be a good fit at Will?
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
You can still play this defense with big men up front.
Leslie Frazier is pretty much doing it in Minny, with the Williams’.
And BTW… while I brought up Frazier, let me add that when he was fired from Cincy, the Bears had a DB coach vacancy. Frazier campaigned himself to come to Chicago (I remember listening to him on the SCORE) , but the Bears (Lovie) had no interest in him.
At the time, Frazier could’ve filled the DB vacancy, and worked under Rivera (not only were they both former Bears, but they coached together at Philly under Jim Johnson). Rivera was already picking up steam as a hot coaching candidate, and Frazier would’ve givin us a perfect in-house candidate to succeed him.
But, Lovie/Jerry said no… so, instead Frazier took an assistant job with Tony Dungy in Indy (in the same friggin defense Lovie runs)… and beat us in the Super Bowl that year.

Never too late to add players who compliment.
And Lovie’s gotta think out the box. Just because a guy is 350 pounds, doesn’t mean he can’t move.
Ditto for the other side of the ball. Add some big bodies to that offensive line, so we can run the ball in the 4th quarter. Right now, we can’t push anyone backward.

Yep.
Tillman’s a physical corner. If you’re not going to let him play physical at the line… then move him to safety where he can be more of a ballhawk, and continue to force fumbles.
When they drafted him, Blache said he could be a pro-bowler at either position.
I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.
Updated on May 25, 2008
Tillman's a stud, that's for sure
and I will say that he could be a Pro Bowler at either. But I don’t know if I trust Blache TOO much. I remember Blache, but that was also a little bit before I started to care way too much about my Bears.
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
not letting tillman play physical is the epitome of bad coaching
our front four is quicker than most, though smaller, so buying them any extra time could lead to huge dividends. allowing tillman and graham (and vasher when he was in) to play physical on the line would definitely have allowed that to happen, especially tillman and graham, both of whom are very physical. instead, we stubbornly stick to our mismatched scheme – our DL can’t get penetration on short slant routes, etc., our DBs can’t stop those routes because they have to give up too much of a cushion, and our defense gets toasted fairly frequently. next year, if tillman stays at CB, we either need to bring in bigger linemen, an elite edge rusher (wale ’ain’t that anymore), or allow our DBs to play far more physical.
