Around SBN: Knicks Beat Lakers With Familiar Strategy

Current Bears Playoff Scenarios Including Wildcard (Updated)

Chicago would still have a mathematical shot at the wild card with a loss, but the odds are slim at best, even if it beats Green Bay and Houston on Dec. 28. In that case, the Bears would need four of these five scenarios to play out:

  • Washington to lose one of its three remaining games. (@ Cin - L, vs. Phi, @ SF) CHECK
  • Philadelphia to lose its NEXT GAME - since Dallas won, Philadelphia will have to beat them in Week 17. (vs. Cle – W, @ Was, vs. Dal)
  • Atlanta to drop two of three. (vs. TB – W, @ Min, vs. Stl)
  • Dallas to lose two of three. (vs. NYG – W, vs. Bal, @ Phi)
  • Tampa Bay to lose its final three games. (@ Atl – L, vs. SD, vs. Oak)

Star-divide

Bears Wildcard hopes took a hit with Tampa Bay losing to Atlanta. We would need Atlanta to lose their next 2 OR Tampa Bay to lose their next 2. For obvious reasons, we can’t have Atlanta losing to Min for our Division hopes would take a hit AND they play the hapless Rams in Week 17, thus making it unlikely Atlanta will lose out. Therefore, we have to root for Tampa Bay to lose their next 2 AT HOME none-the-less, Dallas to lose their next 2, and Philadelphia to lose @ Was. Our Wild Card hopes come down to Tampa Bay and their ability to win at home. Otherwise, we’re looking at winning our next 2 and Minnesota losing their next 2. I can see Minnesota doing that with a hungry Atlanta team and a Giants team that will actually be playing for a better seed after tonight’s loss to Dallas.

So, for the upcoming games, we need Dallas to lose next Saturday vs. Baltimore, Philadelphia to lose next Sunday @ Washington, and Tampa Bay to lose next Sunday vs. San Diego to keep the Wildcard hopes alive.

stick a fork in them

While I’d love to have them get into the playoffs, you can’t hope for other teams to do the job you so easily could have accomplished yourself. They lost the season after choking away sure victories against TB and Atlanta – no excuses for those abominations, let alone laying down like dogs vs. GB.

Giants will have NOTHING to play for

“a Giants team that will actually be playing for a better seed after tonight’s loss to Dallas.”

The Giants-Panthers game next week determines the #1 seed. The winner of that is the #1 seed PERIOD. The only way the Giants have something to play for in Week 17 is if they lose and the Vikings win next week and in that scenario we’re eliminated anyway

Now, the Giants could still beat MIN anyway without anything to play for, since they haven’t rested guys in the past in those situations (last year vs. NE for example), but under no circumstance (that is good for us) will they have something to play for in Week 17

last year vs. new england

is a lot different than week 17 vs an average minny team.

That Average Team

That has beaten 2 NFC division leaders and embarassed the Bears on national TV a few weeks ago? Sorry, had to say it.

Wow

Are you that bored bro? Go back to your blog and celebrate like little children.

OH, and before I get, that average team also lost to the Colts and scraped by the skin of their teeth to beat the Lions….twice.

Buh-bye now!

man you guys are something else....

What’s the point of coming over here and trolling? are you that hard up for other people to talk to?

Your boys are having a great year and are likely the division winners of (granted) a pretty bad division. You’ve had the better team this year, congrats go celebrate with your crew! What’s so hard about that?

I think in the last 7 years you guys have had a better record than us 4 of em and we’ve had division championships in 3 of them. We’ve each had our successes, why not celebrate yours with others who are happy about it, instead of coming over here to start trash talking? You an internet tough guy? You don’t have any other Vikings fans? What’s the deal?

Ah, you know Vikings fans

When they lose, they’re sullen and don’t say anything. When they win, watch the hell out….they troll and talk themselves up.

but its coughlin

i highly doubt he lets his team coast too much in week 17. besides being a hard-ass, he knows they’ll have a week off, and he wants to keep them sharp, so i expect a full-out effort from the giants in week 17. jacobs should be healthy by then, and i expect they want to get him up to speed, so i expect the giants to try and pound a pat williams-less vikings defense. next week is tricky. i think atlanta is a pretty legit team, and they’ve got plenty to play for. with 1/2 the williams wall missing, i see turner having a pretty good day. but i expect it to be a pretty close game.

Wishful Thinking

I really thought the Vikings would lose yesterday – that didn’t happen. I don’t see them losing their last two games. It could happen, but I don’t see it. Sucks to not have your fate in your own hands dont it? It all comes down to the Vikings game last week. We had our chance, and we all saw what the team did with that chance…

We created our own fate... by losing 3 games in the final minute.

I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.
