Bears Paying The Price For Mistakes
That should really be not paying the price by letting Bernard Berrian go to a league rival which we knew then and now was a costly mistake. Look around the league and you see former Bears like Justin Gage, Muhsin Muhammed, and Mark Bradley performing well and you must question whether our system is why they under perform here and do well elsewhere. Why is it that rookie receivers around the league, i.e. ( Eddie Royal ) are gettting playing time for teams with good receivers while Earl Bennett can't get playing time at receiver on a team with bad receivers ? Is it because this might be the week that betweem them all they might make one or two catches ? I've got to believe that Earl Bennett, Brandon Rideau, and Mike Hass could come off the practice squad and do better than Lloyd, Davis, and Booker. We could at least be developing talent and seeing what they have. Being from out West I got to see a lot of Mike Hass and he does not need separation to catch a pass. He's got some of the best hands I've seen and those balls you see Rashied Davis drop are sure catches for Hass and Davis does not get a lot of separation. I am afraid Chicago is where receivers go to die and Bennett, Rideau, and Hass will never get their chance. Not only does Babich have to go but would like to see Ron Turner gone and replaced with someone who knows how to develop a quarterback and receivers. I don't know how possible this would be but Steve Mariucci could do the job better. We are so afraid of making a bad decision at drafting a quarterback that we didn't even draft one in the last draft. With our luck at quarterback we should draft one each year no matter what round it is in. This idea that we can win in this league without one is an idea the Bears have tried for too long. We are one of two teams in the league where a pass longer than 30 yards in the air has yet to be caught.

Re Berrian
I’m glad that we kept Briggs. I’d rather have both, but I think Briggs is better out of the two.
Other than that, you make some good points.

On the contrary
Tillman needed to stay with his man on that play (BB is a one-trick pony), not cheat to help cover a TE that was already covered. I agree they probably should’ve franchised him, but most likely Briggs would’ve been gone then. Rideau and Hass should definitely get a chance since Davis and Booker blow big time. They’re like hockey goalies, deflecting every pass thrown their way.

You cannot compare
Royal and Bennett. Firstly, maybe Bennett hasn’t shown all that much in practice.
Also, Denver was hurting for receivers, they had to go with Royal. The Bears have too many. I dare say if we had a true #1 and a decent #2, he might see more time, because we wouldn’t have to carry so many 2 and 3s.

Also, Hass has been on a few teams
hasn’t he? He had the chance.
Both have been off and on the practice squad. Any team could have picked them up but didn’t. That has to say something.

I think the problem with Hass...
has been that he isn’t very good on special teams so he can be on an active roster as a 4th string or worse WR and not play ST

Although I don't agree with the total analysis
You do have some points to consider. I’m shocked at Davis dropping so many passes this year. He had been very clutch in big moments when he was in a limited role. I expected more from him. I still have no idea how Moose went from good-to-bad-to-good. He looked like crap on our team even when our offense had good games.
One thing I will say about Haas and why he may not work on our team. Kyle is back to eratic throws. Now it has been the last two games and after the ankle injury, but I’m starting to doubt again his accuracy. Maybe he just got lucky on looking more accurate in the middle of the season. We know he can throw dump passes to Forte and McKie and slant routes although they rarely get caught and to the TE over the middle, but he looks like he is just guessing on every other throw and hoping he is close. Almost all the down the down the field throws are just lobbed up and it is hoped that they are in front of the WR and they can make a play on it.
With Haas, he may be able to run the slant, but I’m not sure that a small target is good for Orton, especially if he is a small target without speed to create separation.
I do agree that maybe we are the reason why WR’s suck here.

Hass is 6'3" if not taller...
so size isn’t the issue with him

I'm wrong he's 6'1"...
but at least he is actually taller than 6’

Nowadays
6’ 1" isn’t anything special. Receivers are often 6’ 4". And we are seeing a number of 6’ 6" and up TEs coming into the league.

6'1" is plenty
tall enough to play receiver if you are quick and/or speedy. I love Hass’ hands but he cannot separate from a defender rendering him useless. Just not quick enough for the NFL level.

i believe is hass’ problem.

I believe that loops back to
Chad’s white receiver theory.

Actually
Orton was pretty accurate on a lot of throws dropped by Hester and Davis. His interceptions were bad, but at least he went a long time without one. Just a bad day.

It was a bad day all around
Yes Orton made some mistakes, the receivers dropped some passes, and the defense was off again. It has been a roller coaster ride all season with this team. What we need to see is some consistency these next 4 games. We cant put the blame on anyone but all parts of the team, the coaching, passing, receiving, and defense need to step it up and make some changes.
