Weather Report for MNF
Monday night we should be seeing a warm front of yeah right with skies of partly freeze your nizzos off. Bring your mittens boys, because it as cold as a scorned woman making a snow angel in a Siberian Winter Weather Warning.
Urlacher said on the Mike Turico Show this week that last year's game with Green Bay and 2005 verse Atlanta were the two coldest games he had ever played in. Lucky for us, we have dominated in cold games lately. That Atlanta game was a huge part of our season in 2005. It should be interesting to see where this game ranks.
This morning here in Chicago where I live, there was 20-30 mph winds on -5 degree day bringing the wind chill factor to -27. Tomorrow will be extremely cold all day, but is suppose to get warmer by 4-5 degrees at night. Believe me. No one will notice. It should still be below zero.

When it's this cold
it burns. But it’s a different type of burn.
Ok pass it back to Rose now.

I remember that Atlanta game
It was a Sunday night game after Thanksgiving, IIRC.
I still remember the hit that Urlacher put on Vick, one play when Vick had rolled to his left and was scrambling. After that night, whenever anyone would ask about our D I would say “If you asked Michael Vick who the fastest closer in the NFL is, he would say Brian Urlacher”

I remember that playexactly as you describe it.
We had a good record but teams were doubting whether we were really any good that year and said we hadn’t played anyone. Then we had 4 big games coming up that were our big tests for the year and we won 3. It was Carolina, Tampa Bay, Pittsburgh, and Atlanta. We only lost to Pittsburgh.

heh...
… if you say so.
i don’t think i can count high enough to count all of urlacher’s missed tackles this year.

I like him a lot, but
he is definitely slower and not as strong. He is regularly blocked now, he doesn’t chase anyone down sideline to sideline anymore, and he misses more tackles in a game than I remember him missing in entire seasons.

That's why we have Lance now :)

I know we talk about moving guys to new positions
and that is probably stupid because even though they are similar, they are different, but I wonder how Lance would do at MLB and Urlacher at OLB. Since he is getting slower, it would limit the distance he would be running. I know that AJ Hawk moved from OLB to MLB and made the Packers D look much better. He had to do it because of an injury.
I know Lance is used to dropping back into coverage, but I would be curious to try it.

Actually
a lot of people were saying Urlacher was ideal for weakside linebacker when he was in his prime. The skill set he had matched up well.
Urlacher’s play has gotten better of late. Could it be because Anthony Adams has taken over for Dvoracek and is doing a better job of keeping tackles off of him?

YES
to all of that, urlacher at the outside, briggs in the middle and to the second point about adams.
urlacher can’t shed the blocks as well anymore, i would really like to see briggs in the middle, and to be honest considering how briggs came out saying during his contract dispute that he “wanted to be the man” somewhere i’m sure the coaching staff and briggs see it coming at some point here.

pretty sure...
… that Urlacher will still miss a lot of tackles whether he is a MLB or an OLB.

I think he's missing those tackles because
he is not in position and a lot of that has to do with him either not getting in position fast enough or coming off of blocks. Only a few of those tackles was he squared and missed.
