Chicago Bears VS. Houston Texans - Second Half Game Thread
14-10 Houston at half.
We started fast, ended slow. Lovie better light another fire within the Bears players or this might not end up well.

Given their recent lackluster performances
it’s in their interests to play to win—within reason anyway. With a bye week coming up, Coach doesn’t want them to be too wishy washy.
May the wind be always at your back, and may your placekicker have icewater in his veins.
I'm just hoping
that the coaches actually make some changes at half. Covering Andre Johnson, for starters.
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
That would mean
they would have to do something they haven’t done all year… cover a receiver.

Yeah
But did you expect the Bears to actually win this one or the Giants to actually care?
All week long on this blog people were trying to convince themselves that for some reason the Giants were going to play the starters. Why would they do such a thing? The Bears didn’t give a shit in 05 when they were in a similar situation. Why would the Giants?
I don't know
wasn’t around much here much this week…
why not just stop your whining and watch some football?
bears are playing a meaningful game in week 17, enjoy…this was a 6-win team at the beginning of the year.

We are going to get a Healthy Dose of Bears Football"… So shit offense and an overpaid defense that sort of tries when they feel like it..

Man gotta love "Bears Football"
Its all about running the ball and playing tough defense… making those big stops you know
This is why I am so sick of the whole “Bears Football” bullshit, its just a bunch of crap to get placate the massive amount of meatball Bears fans about the average teams we put on the field every year..
Well am I wrong?
I’m not upset, I’m not expecting much from them at all anyways. Its just I’m sick of this whole concept of what “Bears football” is.
Yes, I understand what you're saying
but you don’t have to keep reminding us. We get the point.
Watch the game and hope for the best.
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
Just leave, dude
Give me a break. Starting to wonder if you’re actually a Bears fan.
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
What a surprise
You constantly question if people “are bears fans”
I’m just looking forward to the future. We aren’t very good. I’d rather have a better pick then a first round blowout. So sue me.
I constantly question people's fanhood? Who, exactly?
Please give me two names of people I’ve questioned, minus you.
I’m looking forward to the future too, but three draft slots won’t make a difference. Even if we lose, it’s 9-7, and we’re still in the bottom half of the class.
We’ll still have a great pick, so it doesn’t matter.
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
No problem

http://www.windycitygridiron.com/2008/12/23/700676/the-quotable-bears-week-si#10937471
There was a whole discussion about it…
Its just silly for you to try to determine what makes up a “Bears Fan”. Its as silly as the concept of “Bears Football”
Glad to see you can link
But where did I say anything?
Hoping for a loss is not being a fan.
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
I'm not going to argue this with you
But I can assure you that my favorite football team since birth is the Chicago Bears.
I’m just not agreeing with your attempt at determining what makes a “fan”
Fair enough
I just don’t think hoping for a loss with the playoffs on the line constitutes rooting for a team.
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!

And Ron Turner calling three pass plays in a row...

Like I said the whole concept of "Bears Football’ is a farce.. but whatever keeps the meatballs happy
also I don't think its possible
Just to rely on a good defense to win games nowadays. You need an offense that is at least capable of putting up the occasional point or two
You can still do it
The defense has to be great though, not just average for most of the season.

System or not
That’s still a ridiculous feat to throw over 5,000 yards when his best receiver and playmaker were missing for a ton of the season.

Do you agree that we need to bolster our OL and get a top-flight WR?

At what point do they address their QB situation?

Well...
I’m an Orton supporter over Rex as of now. I’m gonna sit back for a couple weeks and reevaluate my position.
We have him signed for one more year. In 2010, there will be a stellar QB draft class. If someone good, like a McNabb or whoever, wants to play in Chicago and we can sign him, I’m really not opposed. But, regardless of who our QB is next year, whether it be Henry Burris, Kyle Orton, or Tom freaking Brady, we need to shore up our OL and get a good WR.
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
nobody wants
Rex anymore…

we need a
- receiver and something with the O-line, although we should have Williams next year…
we also need a QB…
but since Orton is signed for $695,000 or something like that for next season, I’m sure he’ll be the QB next year…

What kind of playmaking receiver is out there on the FA market?
Or do they acquire one via draft?

Forte must have re-injured himself
At least that’s what I’m thinkin. Otherwise Lovie deserves to get a show thrown at him.
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
If they could run him now they would
Look what it did last week…. we would have tried that again if we could
I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes out he was hurt for the second half of the season

So besides the Bears and Oakland winning, what was the other ingredient for the Bears Wildcard?
