Gimme...

Vernon Carey RG
And let the NFC North have fun trying to stop our running game.
I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.

Ugh
Look at all those great quarterbacks and wide receivers. It’s a good thing those are not strong needs for the Bears…
I can't say I know enough about
individual lineman, but is Jordan Gross still good?
talked about a lot last offseason when he was an RFA and well, DeAngelo WIlliams had a helluva season for the Panthers.
Whosyourmamma is sadly the only WR worth bringing in…
I’d like Kurt Warner, but he needs a good line to protect him. I could see Garcia being the “competition” that Angelo spoke of yesterday to Orton. At least he can scramble and gets in some good streaks….

Gross is very good
I just don’t think we can get him. He was franchised by the Panthers last year when they couldn’t work out a long term deal. I am sure they will try again. If not, I believe they can still franchise him one more time. With that run game, getting him signed to something would be my priority.

Of the FA
I still would like to see them take a shot at Boldin. I didn’t think they would part with him last year, but when he was out Breaston played very well. They might see Boldin a little less as a necessity this time around. Still a long shot, especially after hearing JA’s press conference.
Being Who You Thought We Were Since 2005!
well yeah
if Boldin is truly available, they better be trying to make that deal, not that I have any clue about the Bears cap space.
that being said 2-3 draft picks (one likely being a first-rounder) is damn steep…

I agree on it being steep
I’m just tired of building through the draft and taking second tier players. Just go out and get a top 2 guy at the position you need.
Being Who You Thought We Were Since 2005!
They can't franchise both him and Peppers
One of them might be had for the right money. Peppers would be a great addition. I just wish he was a few years younger.
O-Line
I would love to see the Bears make a play for Jordan Gross at Right Tackle. The Panthers may put the Franchise tag on him again but according to Pro Football Weekly they are also trying to keep Peppers and CB Chris Gamble (a CB the Bears should also look into), and don’t like spending big FA money.
Vernon Carey would be my second best option.
I don’t think there are as many good guards available. Jahri Evans is a Restricted Free Agent so I’m not sure we would be able to get him, and if he’s not available I would like to try to get Mike Goff (even though he’s a bit older).
Oooh, oooh, oooh!
Rex Grossman is available! Quick Jerry, give him a call!! He was great at UFla, and he can throw it FAAAAR.
Residence: Portland, Oregon Pro Team: Da Bears NCAA Football: LSU Baby!! Make sense?
Nnamdi Asomugha
The Bears should go after this guy. He is by far the best cornerback in the NFL. Teams don’t even through near him any more. That would get rid of the Bears problem of not being able to stop teams number 1 WRs.
Correct me if I'm wrong, because I very well could be,
but didn’t he move over to safety this year?
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
Our CBs play a lot of zone defense...
Thus, reducing the need for a top man-to-man CB.

Agreed
This might allow the bears to satisfy a couple of areas. They could slide Tillman over to Safety – something that has been mentioned as a possibility, and might be a good fit for him given his size – have Manning or Vashar as the nickel back, and instantly improve the secondary significantly.
It might require adjusting the amount of cover 2 they play – but I believe they are only in the cover 2 about a third of the time.
has tillman to safety
been mentioned anywhere other than on this blog? i’ve never seen it but it doesn’t mean it hasn’t been.
Asomugha and grahm are your corners then? would that make the two positions as a whole that much better than what they are now?
I heard it on the Score
a few weeks ago – but they weren’t clear on whose idea it was originally – whether it reflected actual knowledge of Bears discussions.
I am not sure, but I think he played safety his final year of college.
I think it would seriously improve the two positions. right now there is a gaping hole at Safety with a much injured free agent Mike Brown and a big drop off after that to Manning and Steltz. Tillman is big for a corner, tackles well, and comes up with tons of turnovers. One of the knocks against him as a CB was that he was too big to get his hips turned quickly enough to keep up with the quicker WR – at safety this wouldn’t be a problem.
At CB you would then have a complete shut-down CB in Asomugha and a solid second guy in Graham, with Vashar, Steltz, and Manning backing up S and CB and playing nickel.
I also think with this lineup, they can run a modified Cover 2, similar to what they have done in the past when playing top notch WR – have Asomugha take on the other team’s #1 WR and shadow him, and then play zone around that.
All of this assumes that Tillman can play Safety, but I don’t think that’s so insane, given his skill set. He probably won’t hit as hard as Brown, though.
Terrible crop of free agent receivers
The only potential #1 WR is Housh, and he might just be a little bit younger Musin Muhammed. Basically a high end #2 possesion receiver. but maybe that’s what we need. I think Hester is a pretty decent deep threat. (if only Orton would be able to get it to him).
Maybe the Cards will take one of our defenders, a #2 draft pick and a 2010 pick for Boldin? Give them Vasher.
Leonard Pope please.
More TE’s for the winter.

And the Raider's CB with the crazy name.
No more Peanut, PLEASE!

Damn Julius Peppers and Matt Carroll.
I would shit my pants.
Wow the Bulls have become the Clippers!
Never mind!
Michael Lombardi, a former NFL executive with several teams, reported on this week’s edition of Showtime’s “Inside the NFL” the New England Patriots will put the franchise tag on Matt Cassel to prevent him from becoming a free agent.

I was trying to find a Matt "Carroll."
Wonder if Brady feels sorry for Bledsoe.

Hmmm
How about Julius Peppers and like drafting a safety maybe the kid out of USC Taylor Mays. Draft a WR in the second round. Try and Sign TJ.
I don’t see a QB out there better than Orton. Maybe Garcia.
Wow the Bulls have become the Clippers!
Hmm... what about Mark Sanchez out of USC?

I just saw him throw a TD.
I haven’t seen much of him. Where do you think he’ll get drafted? If you can get him in 3 or 4 that might be a steal.
Wow the Bulls have become the Clippers!
Sanchez is a underclassman
i think and I have not seen him going in Round 1 in any mocks I have seen, so he might decide to stay in school. The only QBs if they come out that will be Round 1 for sure are Stafford out of Georgia (way overrated and a bust waiting to happen IMHO) and Bradford (who I think is Peyton Manning 2.0).
He would drastically help
himself if he stays another year. With Tebow and Harrell? and Daniels gone he will get a lot more attention, especially since they will still have a dominant offense.
Being Who You Thought We Were Since 2005!
Yeah, but Harrell's a senior.
And Chase Daniel, too. Tebow WILL stay, trust me. He’ll get better next year as a true passer. Sanchez has been marked as an undrafted guy on a large number of mock drafts, but has also appeared anywhere from 1st overall to the end of the 2nd round. Those drafts assume everyone that can come out will, so take them with a grain of salt.

tebow
can stay for ten years and still won’t be an nfl qb prospect.
Are you going to say why?
Or just keep repeating that?

Here's a good website
I don’t agree with some of the points, but it sums it up well enough:
http://bandisonthefield.blogspot.com/2008/12/tim-tebow-is-not-nfl-qb.html
I'M A MAN! I'M 22!
I've already answered most of those arguments on:

Other way around, in my opinion.
Stafford’s arm is about as golden as can be, and Bradford is gonna start getting hit in a week and probably won’t like it.
