Bears show up, decimate Jaguars 23-10
It was not pretty for the Jaguars early, and it didn't get much easier. The Bears were able to easily handle our guests, partially due to a defense that appeared to care and an offense that got started early.
Keys to the game:
- Kyle Orton. He ended up with a 20/34, 219 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT stat line. He made some bad decisions at times (including his INT). To be fair, he also thread the needle a couple of occasions, especially on the Greg Olsen TD. He bounced back nicely after the terrible game against Minnesota.
- Matt Forte. Mr. Consistent had a decent game (69 yards on 21 carries). It was obvious that the Jags were focused on crowding the box and forcing Orton to beat them through the air. Forte was able to give Orton a cushion.
- D. 3 sacks, 1 INT. I'm just happier about the 3 sacks bit than anything else. Garrard had a mediocre game (19/38, 178 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT), and a lot of that was due to our defense staying on him.
- Robbie Gould. At least we have a good kicker.

Garrard's mediocre game
was due to Robbie Gould? Awesome!

You're welcome!
No, really I’m largely a lurker here from Sun evenings on, but I always read your and Windy’s ‘reflection’ write-ups after every game and appreciate them greatly, as I did this write-up. So hopefully I didn’t come off as a typo-fascist!

No worries
We’re trying to present the one-stop shop for Bears news and info, so having you bring that up really was appreciated.
If only Gould could make other QB’s have mediocre games….

And I'd say the Lions suck
for having a 1st and goal on the 8 and only getting a FG against the Vikings in the 4th Q, but:
(1) We suck worse because we had a 1st and goal on the 2 and couldn’t score at all against the Vikes
(2) The Lions, winless this year, still played the Vikes better than we did and …
(3) Everyone already knows the Lions suck

Thankfully the Jags don't have much of a kind of passing game
The Bears stacked the box all day long (as usual) to play the run, and JAX couldn’t take advantage as many other opponents have.
Orton had a lot of passes dropped today by his receivers…
Forte had another strong day…
D. Manning had a great game… so did Idonije…
Bears O-Line looked like garbage again in pass protection (St. Clair is horrible), and in short yardage situations (can’t get 1 yard as usual).
I'm not going to even bother trying to update this sig everyday anymore... that's what the standings column on ESPN is for.

Agree with everything you said
Orton didn’t look the best (better than he has) but he didn’t get much help either. How many times does Hester need to be hit in the hands to catch it?
D still needs to learn to tackle.

I know it was cold...
but the receivers had way too many dropped passes. If we’re gonna be consistent on offense, you need to catch the balls that are thrown at you.

It would be really nice
if maybe we could see Earl “Ocho Cinco” Bennett on Thursday. To be the SEC career leader in catches means you probably dont drop the ball too often.

Would be real nice to see a new WR coach next year
Along with a whole new group of WR scouts…

I read the other day
That if he isn’t playing it’s probably because he isn’t as fast as the coaches thought he would be. But we need new receivers, pronto.

Yeah
this coaching staff doesn’t inspire much confidence in their evaluations of talent.
I was most pleased by all the deflected passes from our d-line. Brees isn’t very tall we’ll need to knock balls down to keep them off schedule.

Help to the rescue!
Angelo should give Boldin or Housh a blank check in the off-season. In addition, draft a WR in the first or second round next year. The Bears receivers are nothing short of awful, and completely holding this offense back. Why exactly is Davis still on the field? Oh yeah, he made a really important play about two seasons ago.

Boldin...
… will not be a free agent, so it would be pretty hard for Angelo to give Boldin a “blank check.”

Housh should, but you're right about Boldin
Sounds like the Cardinal’s front office is focused on keeping their stud WR’s.

Things I've learned from football today
Apparently the hands are the worst place to hit a reciever with a pass.
LOTS of drops around the league today…

Sorry, don't know why I remember this play ...
but does anyone else remember that play back in 01 or 02 where Miller hit David Terrell right in the shoulder pad with a bomb pass with Terrell like 10 yds from paydirt, no one around, and Terrell dropped it? Any time I see replays of our receivers sucking this year I think back to that play and chuckle under my anger.

that happened in new york today
eli manning chucked a hail mary to…steve smith, i think…and he had about 10 yards of seperation and it just clunked right off his friggin hands.

Hester
kind of like Hester last year, when he dropped that Grossman’s pass off his shoulder pad. I think it was the Washington game and would have given us a 14-0 lead. we ended up losing that game.
I remember that David Terrell play, but I think he let it bounce off his helmet.

David Terrell
Might be my least favorite Bear of all time. If not he’s in the top 3. Man he was a MORON and he couldn’t catch ANYTHING. I was so happy when he was let go following the 04 season.

It was Hixon wasn't it.
Excuse…try to trade for Boldin then. I don’t think they can afford both Fitz and him.

im sure they can
Especially after they cut Edge
Thank you,
these bumblefucks think the Sox are going to trade Dye. I said I would cancel my membership on here in martyrdom of Dye being traded.

I don't think Boldin wants to be there, that's the issue.
