Garrett Wolfe Interview

Windy City Gridiron has recently been contacted by Brittney Payton, daughter of  Walter Payton.  She is working with Mouthpiecesports

She has been gracious enough to put together an interview with Garrett Wolfe and would like to know if there are any specific questions or topics you would like to hear be asked.

Thanks,

WCG

This may seem too critical, or not diplomatic enough,

But I’ve never been a fan of easy questions… but my question would be:

How does Garrett feel about the decisions to frequently run the ball (with the fullback) up the middle on goal line situations? Is this a play that they run successfully in practice? How much confidence do the players have in Ron Turner’s playcalling?

Also,

What is the leadership like in the lockerroom? Does Urlacher rule the roost? Who do the players look up to the most in the lockerroom?

I've got a couple

1) Obviously, you’ve been a valuable ST player. What has the coaching staff told you regarding your role in the future?
2) Any thought of moving to FB? We need someone who can run the ball and be a horse.
3) In your opinion, who’s the hardest hitter on D?

Garret Wolfe Interview

Yes, i have questions for him. Does Garrett see himself as an NFL starting RB? Do you think the Chicago Bears have given him enough opportunity to prove himself as a starting RB?

by TOT on Dec 9, 2008 12:55 PM CST reply actions

Question

Ask him does he get frustrated when he gets called into a game for the obvious Draw or Screen? Also, he seems like a good canidate to return kicks, quick, fast, good vision, how come he gets no reps in the games?

Hey

Hey guys I am on my way to meet up with Garrett. I will get some info on his injury and also ask your questions. I will post the injury stuff tomorrow sometime and the fan questions my producers says will be a feature on Monday but I will keep all of you posted. Thanks for you help!

Ask him how shocked he was we wasted a third round pick on him

larry has that system down to a science. Especially with the way the economy is….big wigs like larry coming in dressed in their mink coats and 24k gold cigarrete holders with pockets lined with coke make for a large draw during shift changes.

Tsk Tsk...

Having Brittney include us in this is an awesome thing… if ever there was a time for a little degree of diplomacy, respectfulness, and couth, this is the time. Save your player/coach bashing for the other posts!

the fact that she is walter paytons daughter means i have to be nice to her

i could give three shits about her or a garrett wolfe interview

Then you certainly should not bother posting comments

If you don’t care about her or the interview.

I do care

I care that this blog has nothing better to write about than Garrett Wolfe

Well, you essentially have two options

1) Do something to change the site’s content. Complaining about it (which you’re doing) doesn’t count.
OR
2) Do nothing, in which case you can’t complain how the site is being run.

She allowed us to take part in an interview she was conducting. Don’t disrespect other blog members. If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all. Simple as that.

Oh, and before I forget:

All i said was that we wasted a pick on him and everyone turned this into a matter of me disrespecting Brittany.

a little respect is what you need to show

or don’t post.

BPayton34 thanks for including us. although i didn’t have a question for you in time, i look forward to the results of the interview

when has anyone ever been defended like brittany ever before

your treating her like someone special when shes just another poster. the fact that shes walter payton’s daughter is cool but it doesn’t mean she should get extra respect… if anyone would have asked for questions on garrett wolfe i would have given the same response….

Don't be silly.

This blog is a more interesting, interactive experience for us if the people who have access to the players include us. Just because you’re not a fan of the dude is no reason to be disrespectful to someone who’s trying to help make the site more interesting. Garrett Wolfe – and Brittany Payton – will live happy lives without the questions from a fan blog. Respect the fact that she’s giving people who care about the team access to the players, not whose daughter she is, or who she’s talking to.

Just to explain again quickly.

It’s disrespectful if someone says, “I’m going to do an interview with my friend who plays football for a team you all care about, if you have questions, let me know and I’ll ask them,” and you say, "ask him why he sucks. " It shows that you don’t appreciate the effort that she’s making, and discourages her from doing this neat thing for the people who post here. I’m sure you didn’t mean it that way – in another thread, trashing Wolfe would be perfectly acceptable (though the dude is a demon on special teams…), but it’s inappropriate here.

If WCG or Chi had posted about getting to interview Wolfe

and you wrote this I’d call you out for being an ass too.

Its pretty simple. Respect the people around you, don’t say stupid things and you don’t get hassled.

by halfblindcubbiegirl on Dec 9, 2008 9:12 PM CST up reply actions

I don't he's a waste

if we had an offensive staff that could put together packages for players he’d be really good. Apparently having defined roles isn’t something Turner believes in.

by halfblindcubbiegirl on Dec 9, 2008 6:41 PM CST up reply actions

Ok, people

Let’s drop this topic. I was offered the interview and I accepted it. I appreciate her reaching out to us and I appreciate what she is and may in the future be able to offer the site.

If you have no interest in hearing or reading the interview you are entitled to it, but I will not allow any type of disrespecting of somebody else and what they are offering regardless of whether they are the daughter of Walter Payton or any other user.

this has to be a joke

this is the most ridiculous thing i have ever seen. this went from me making a joke asking her to ask wolfe why we wasted a 3rd round pick on him to me being the next hitler for direspected the great daughter of walter payton. i am sure shes a good person and all but you guys really need to get your head out of your asses. i have seen tons of ridiculous questions during interview threads like this and only now do i get called out.

I'm pretty sure I didn't say a word when you made the first comment.

I was attempting to just cut the issue short before it gets out of hand. On this site the longer I let things go the worse they typically get, so I was hoping that the a WCG policy and everybody would just let it go.

We have to NO on Thursday we need to start worrying about our secondary right about now, not decide whether a player is worth an interview or not.

There's a difference between me or WCG doing the interviews

and someone who can offer us interviews or first-hand accounts of individual members of the Bears.

Just don’t disrespect anyone and everyone’s good.

Dude, focus

I wasn’t trying to protect Brittney. She can take care of herself.

But, again, I’ll repeat what I said earlier: There’s a difference between me or WCG doing the interviews and asking for input and someone who can offer us interviews or first-hand accounts of individual members of the Bears.

As a Bears fan, that should be pretty exciting for you. Don’t ruin that opportunity for the rest of us.

drop this one.

If nobody else addresses it, we can move on. If it keeps going I have to start getting all official and warning and banning and deleting comments and I really don’t like getting official it doesn’t suit me well.

Wow

I didn’t know I was going to be the topic of such a heated discussion. well for those of you who care I did get to ask Garrett your questions yesterday. He, as all the players I have worked with so far, love when they get questions directly from their fans. The tape needs to be edited and posted and I will send a link to them on Monday. As for him talking about his injure I should have a post for that later today.

Thanks so much!

And please disregard all of the BS… we are incredibly excited about the opportunity you are giving us! Hopefully, you can continue to provide us with opportunities to ask questions of our beloved Bears players, and maybe some coaches? Thanks again!

I wanna add...

My husband, a diehard bears fan since toddlerhood, melted when I told him Sweetness’s daughter was on the scene at WCG. For our family, love of the sport of football has helped span generations, strengthen bonds between in-laws, and serve as a medium of communication that opens opportunities to all kinds of more significant and lasting developments.
Walter Payton certainly has touched the lives of people he never knew, and we appreciate your participation here at WCG as a reflection of that generation-spanning, gap-transcending effect of a thing like football.
Thanks for spending the time with us!

May the wind be always at your back, and may your placekicker have icewater in his veins.
