Bears Trying To Trade Brian Griese

On Tuesday of next week the Bears will be hit with a 300,000 dollar roster bonus due to lame duck QB Brian Griese.  They are shopping the interception prone QB around for a trade.  It is not known what they are asking for.  My guess is a bucket of chicken and a large Coke or perhaps a hole in the head.

Brian is extremely disappointed that he will not have the opportunity to be free to talk with whomever he wants at,'' said his agent Ralph Cindrich. ``There's not any question whatsoever that would be his preference. But that's what they're doing.'

Unless there are more than one teams who want him, a trade is not likely to happen considering the Bears will release him before they have to pay the bonus.

hehe
Any team that trades for Griese days before he gets released should be replaced in the NFL with a college team.  Or maybe an NFL Europe team.  Or an Arean League team.

Chicago could have two NFL franchises, right?

a hypothetical
in this day and age 300k isn't a huge amount of cash. The bears could keephim and see who is around draft day with an eye on training camp for a possibletrade then say after some teams qb gets hurt.

Of course if any other team has game film on mr. Griese we won't get much in return, maybe a ham sandwich?

Why in the hell
would anyone trade for him when they could just wait till he's released?

Very savvy move by the Bears front office.

anyone think
marlon mccree would be a good pick up for the bears to add to their safety depth?

Too bad...
...since I don't see the Bears bringing in a QB1 in the offseason (ie. prob just drafting a QB, no free agent acquisition) this is Kyle Orton's job to lose and Brian Griese has been Orton's mentor the past two seasons.

He might have been
traded but his agent just screwed that plan. Now everyone knows he'll for sure be traded. If I'm the Bears I wait until training camp to release him, 300k isn't that much. His agent doesn't care about him, his agent wants him to sign a new contract so he gets a cut.

I don't understand
Why everybody gives Griese such a hard time and gives Grossman constant forgiveness.

Griese had comparable or better numbers.

Bah, I give up.
