Draft Thoughts

I would love to take Mendenhall. I really think he's gonna be solid. However, we have more pressing needs at QB and offensive line. If we're going to take Mendenhall, we clearly have to be making some sort of move to get a QB or an offensive lineman outside the draft. Henne, Flacco, and Brohm will not drop to the third nor will the OT that we need.

Mendenhall is the sexy name, but he's not the most pressing need. I imagine the Bears will draft someone like Forte in the 3rd rather than be a player in the FA market.

If Mendenhall drops to 14 I say we have to take him.

We have two 3rd rounders
so we have the ammo to move back into the second if say they wanted Flacco and an oline guy like Albert.

i say...
one of our 3rds and our second for the first or second pick in the 2nd round.  Get flacco.

We're still short
Our first is spent on Mendenhall.
Our Second is used on Flacco/Oline.

We're still short a quality qb or o-line prospect. This means we need to get one in free agency. RB is more of a luxury/need that can be filled in the third.

Mendenhall may be nice but. . .
If that rumor of bringing in Michael Turner is true, then chances are that we'll probably take Malcolm Kelly (if he's available) or Limas Sweed.  Especially if we don't get a deal done with Bryant Johnson.

I wouldn't hold
nothing on Johnson yet.  We don't overpay and our QB situation is questionable and we are still holding out hopes that Berrian might come back.  So don't count that one yet.

Lineman
If we sign Maurice Williams, I say draft Mendenhall.

OT/QB/RB
I say:
  1. pick an OT
  2. Pick a Flacco or Henne
  3. pick an RB.
I think the Line and the chance ot get a QB of the future are more important than the RB at this point.

I am hoping...
Mendenhall is available at 14, it'd give the Bears a great opportunity to move back and pick up another 2nd or 3rd round pick. I think he's going to be a good player, but too many teams have proved that you can get quality RBs later and cheaper. Besides you need a good o-line before you can do anything and we still are missing 2 starters.
They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. *That's* the *Chicago* way!

i would love for them
to select mendenahall or kelly if either r there, and if not, take chris williams or ryan clady to shore up the o-line. Then, using the 2 and the 3's we could conceivably get back in the end of the 1st or the 2nd should brohm slip or flacco be available. Thats gotta be the plan
