Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

Chris Johnson? Stop It!

Garrett Wolfe v2

Star-divide

Think about it. It makes too much sense not to see these two as the basically the same player. Both are lightning quick players that can turn on a dime and are nearly impossible to tackle in a phone booth. However, both are also incredibly small and cannot stand the physical beating that a RB goes through during the season.

Our goal in drafting a RB in the first 3 rounds would be to get someone who could eventually challenge Benson as the starter, which means whoever we draft must have starter potential, including body build. Wolfe doesn't have it. Johnson doesn't have it. Forget production and forget how fast he is. He WILL break if he gets more than 5 carries a game.

We don't need that and we don't want that.

I agree, no need for another small back. although
Ray Rice I think could take more punishment and is still fast just not as.

Rice
I totally agree with that.  I like Rice.  I would like to see him taken in the third round if we do not get another RB early in the draft.

What about Tashard Choice or Matt Forte?
I read that they run "hard", like Marion Barber. At this point I just want a running back that can either make the first guy miss or break a tackle; in other words, the opposite of Benson.

first of all
johnson is 5-11 and like 200 lbs. he is much larger than wolfe. and since when do you know what we need and don't want.
I am like your Dan Aykroyd and biglow would be Jane, the ignorant slut. -Chad

Bigger but not big enough
He's 195lbs, 20 lbs heavier. 220lbs backs have issues with the punishment.

We all know what the Bears need, that's clear. Chris Johnson is at best a luxury because he's in the same mold as Wolfe and Hester. Yeah, Hester rocks, but a whole team of them would get blown out of the water. That's not what we want.

interviews and private workouts
these are some of the players that are supposed to be targeted by the bears or at least taking a look at.

SouthWest scout : Chris Ballard is taking a hard look at this Forte cat, which doesent really impress me but had solid collegent stats. aso the plan to send another scout to give him a private workout. But he is also drwaing interesst from the lions and falcons. also the bears are looking at Main's HB/TE Anthony Cotrone
a 6'2" 253 converted Quarterback. sounds weird but mabey by being a converted QB he has a better understanding of the offence and might give him a leg up.
