Is T.J. Houshmandzadeh More Your Style?

Seriously, Cincinnati is a mess.  For a team that has so much talent especially on offense to miss playoff is just wrong.  Earlier this week we had a post on Chad Johnson asking for a change of scenery.

He has vowed to not participate in voluntary workouts.  Now Johnson's runnig mate, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, has stated he will also not attend.  He believes he is under paid and wants a new deal.

At this point management has to just want out of this situation.  I wonder is a team just stepped in and offered them a decent deal for one of them, if they'd just say 'Take him!' and then they could focus on resigning the other.

T.J or Chad?

Housh all the way
He's a good guy and just as talented as Johnson. And tying for the league lead in receptions last year is a plus. The only issue is he'll turn 30 in the beginning of the season. Imagine TJ as the #1 guy, Booker as the possession guy, and Hester as the home run burner, all of a sudden we're looking pretty good. But it'll never happen. No balls.

Housh
The big thing is, Housh is on the final year of his deal and feels he is underpaid, which considering the last few years, I would agree with.  If someone were to deal for him, and who knows how willing Cincy will be to deal him since he is not as prima donna as CJ, they would probably want a new deal negotiated.  So the question is would we even want to pay up what he will surely want?

Yeah.
I think the answer is yes- it has to be. Wide receivers just cost a hell of a lot of money right now, and the only way to know what you're getting is free agency. The draft is too risky, and even if you do find good talent elsewhere, there's no reason to assume they'll stick around, given how much money wide receivers are worth right now. Quality draft picks like Berrian go where the money is, and even Arena league castoffs like Rashied Davis are going to get paid. Taking a guy like Brandon Lloyd on spec is fine, and maybe it'll pay off- maybe this'll be his year, he's got the talent for it- but if he does do well, then he's going to want money from a new contract, too. So no matter what, you have to overpay for a quality wide receiver right now.

That being the case, I think it makes sense to overpay for a high quality free agent now rather than hope to find someone we can develop and then overpay later.

Housh
He seems quiet and a guy who just plays none of the antics of C.J. too bad Angelo doesn't have the guts or the willingness to pay the money and all else it would take to pry him from Cinci

Clearly Housh is better
It's not even really close.

Houschmazilly
seriously. even if they both hold out i seriously doubt that they would trade either one.
Especially housch over 85. Housch does it all the right way just ast talented with none of the "look at me" type of play and demenor off the field. it was housch and carson who basically put their foot down when all of the team seemed to bet getting arrested on a daily basis so that shows leadership which im sorry to say that 85 does not. there is no I in team but their sure is ME. the only way 85 gets traded if he goes DeAngelo Hall on Lewis or just quits like Moss.

This post is kind of a moot point.....
Angelo isn't going to take a chance on either of these guys.  He's already stated his intent on sticking with high-character guys.

Depends what I have to give up
Both Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmanzada are great wide receivers but what are the Bengals going to ask for? They would probably ask for a lot for two 30 year old wide outs. And who is going to throw to them?

If they were both free agents, I would take T.J. Houshmanzada because he doesn't have a character issue. Chad Johnson can go off on ANYONE and I am not willing to take that chance. Any player flipping out on a team can ruin a season.
