WCG Mock Draft- Kansas City Chiefs

CURRENT SELECTION
Sedrick Ellis
Defensive Tackle
USC
ANALYSIS: The Kansas City Chiefs have problems on both offensive and defensive lines. On offense, the Chiefs only rushed for 1,333 yards, averaging 3.3 YPC, and only 5 TD’s between Larry Johnson, Kolby Smith, and Priest Holmes in 2007. This problem might have come by the injury to Larry Johnson and they are going to start some younger offensive lineman so I believe the Chiefs should draft DT Sedrick Elis, defensive tackle out of the University of Southern California.

The Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackles are AWFUL! The Chiefs have two great defensive ends, Tamba Hali and Jared Allen who combined for 128 tackles, 23 sacks, 5 forced fumbles and both of them aren’t even 26 years old yet! But their defensive tackles are dreadful. Ron Edwards and Alfonso Boone (former Bear) combined for 50 tackles, 4 sacks, 0 forced fumbles and both of them average the age of 30. First of all, the defensive tackles are just flat out awful and they need a younger DT. The Chiefs ranked 28th in the league giving up 130.6 rush yards per game meaning they need a strong DT in the middle. USC ranked 4th in the nation in stopping the run last year with Ellis starting every game, showing that Ellis can stop the run. Ellis had 34 225 lbs. bench reps at the combine. Last year with USC, Ellis recorded 58 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 12.5 stops for losses, and 7 pass deflections.

The Chiefs certainly don’t have a problem getting to the QB but they do have a problem stopping the run. Ellis will help stop the opponents run game, also contributing to the sack total and be a great addition to the Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive line.

Good Pick
WCG, I don't think that's Sedrick Ellis in that photo.  If it is, he's either lost or gained 150 pounds.  Ellis is a beast though and KC could definitely use him.

I saw him at the combine or somewhere that's why I knew it wasn't him.
