Holding out hope for FA help...

There's still a few guys out there at need positions that most teams, including the Bears, have paid little attention to.  Obviously, Bryant Johnson is the guy everyone is talking about.  However, I'll throw two names at you that are arguably just as solid, if not better.  D.J. Hackett and Javon Walker are still available at WR.  Hackett shreaded the Bears last year in Seattle.  He had injury issues all year, but really showed flashes of being a starting caliber wideout.  Walker is a Pro-Bowl talent if he can stay healthy and be a good teammate.  At OLT, former Jaguar Maurice Williams is a starting caliber tackle that could definitely help our line, at the very least providing depth.

Hackett and Williams are probably going to be fairly modestly priced FA's.  I think we need to take a look at them for depth, ultimately giving us a little flexibility in the draft.  As it stands, we're looking at going into the draft having to draft based on need in the first three rounds.

I agree
WTF?  Does Angelo know something?  I know we never make a splash in FA, but this is ridiculous.  I'm all for not overpaying for anyone but we have needs that need to be addressed.  Preferably with "NFL ready" talent.  If Angelo is going to use the draft to try and fill those needs then next year might be very disappointing.

Disappointing...
...is really what I'm bracing myself for.  I can't think of the last time our offense was looking so abismal going into the off-season.

I agree...
..I really feel like there are a very limited number of players available that can actually upgrade the team.  Sorry bout the nearly simultaneous similar post btw.

it cant hurt
to take a look at some available guys. If i didnt know any better id think JA was hibernating and ignoring players. It is inexcusable to not set up meetings with faneca and turner. GET SOMETHING DONE

i really
want the JA to talk to at least some one, but i don't want to make a deal just because. usually when that happens, it always ends up being a bad deal. didn't billy bean say something like that in moneyball?
I am like your Dan Aykroyd and biglow would be Jane, the ignorant slut. -Chad

billy beane
didnt fork over huge money for FA's but he was successful in drafting and signing cheaper guys to fill veteran's roles. Angelo isnt signing any replacements or building through the draft, so...
