Holding out hope for FA help...
There's still a few guys out there at need positions that most teams, including the Bears, have paid little attention to. Obviously, Bryant Johnson is the guy everyone is talking about. However, I'll throw two names at you that are arguably just as solid, if not better. D.J. Hackett and Javon Walker are still available at WR. Hackett shreaded the Bears last year in Seattle. He had injury issues all year, but really showed flashes of being a starting caliber wideout. Walker is a Pro-Bowl talent if he can stay healthy and be a good teammate. At OLT, former Jaguar Maurice Williams is a starting caliber tackle that could definitely help our line, at the very least providing depth.
Hackett and Williams are probably going to be fairly modestly priced FA's. I think we need to take a look at them for depth, ultimately giving us a little flexibility in the draft. As it stands, we're looking at going into the draft having to draft based on need in the first three rounds.
