Brohm/Flacco

I was just watching a Mel Kiper segment on ESPN and his projections kind of intrigued me.  He mentioned that he expected Brian Brohm and Joe Flacco to fall to the middle of the second round.  That's very encouraging to hear that we could possibly get the second best QB in the draft in the middle of the second.  Even a worst case scenario would probably only entail us moving up a few spots to snag one of those two.

Still waiting to hear something on Maurice Williams and D.J. Hackett before I can get too excited though.  I would love to be able to draft Mendenhall at 14, but we have a much bigger need at OT and WR.

Fwiw
the FA guru at scout.com..

Hackett's preference is to re-sign with the Seattle Seahawks but the Tennessee Titans, Washington Redskins, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers remain interested in him.

No Bears mention...

The same guy on Johnson (updated around 3:20 PM PST)...

Free agent WR Bryant Johnson wants to sign with the Buffalo Bills but at the moment, it's not a mutual feeling. A team source told Scout.com that there are personnel evaluators with the club that aren't convinced that he's the best fit for the team. Despite that, it's not out of the question that he eventually signs with Buffalo.

Johnson is expected to visit the Washington Redskins and possibly the Chicago Bears later this week. A league source notes the Tennessee Titans are also interested in Johnson but have yet to set up a visit with him.

Great....
...This is scary.  But if you think about it, most WRs are going to cost more for the Bears to sign due to the instability at QB.

i don't know about you
but if they fell to our pick in the second, i'd rather have brohm than flacco.

I agree...
I really like Flacco as a 2nd to 3rd rounder, but never thought Brohm would fall that far. It would be a Great to get either of them, but definitely Brohm over Flacco.

Here's why...
...I like Flacco over Brohm.  Flacco's ceiling is much much higher.  You have to like his size and arm.  When your top two recievers are in the speedy, deep threat mold, you need a QB with a strong arm get the ball deep down the field.  Brohm only has adequate arm strength by NFL standards.

I think Flacco will come off the board in the first half of round two, with Brohm being in the same general area.  It will just depend how certain teams view the prospects.

Heard an interview
with Jaworski today and he said based on the NFL people he's talked to following Flacco's workout, he thinks Ryan and Flacco are the top two and said Falcco could warrant a first round pick.

I thought there was a chance
just based on the rumors of who is interested.  The newest rumor is the Dolphins with their 2nd, so if you wanted him you'd need to get back up into the 1st.

I get a horrible feeling we end up with Henne.

doesnt sound very appealing
it might be because I went to illinois and hate michigan with a passion but I am really afraid the bears are gonna settle for henne, I'd rather stay with rexorton then do that.

Michigan QBs
Suck.  Brady is the exception.  I've listed the Michigan QBs and it is rather unimpressive.
