Mike Brown #30

I figured I'd go through with this, kind of a just in case diary. But Mike Brown has been an influence to me and I hope to many other Bears or football fans. If he wouldve stayed healthy theres no doubt that #30 would be retired. I hate the fact that he's gone year in and year out for the Bears to try and stay healthy but it just wont happen for him. He's been a leader of the team and an influence to alot of the safeties and cornerbacks in the league. I figured to add to this I would put some stats up for him and maybe a sexy little poll for everyone to respond to.

Career Stats/8 seasons(4 of which are injured ridden):

342 tackles
4 Sacks
22 Pass Def
15 INTs
272 yds(in INT)
4 TD's

I just basically want people to respon with what they liked about Mike Brown, please dont be dumb and post negative things....thanks guys!

big fan
of Mike Brown. he makes the defense better by just being on the field. hard hitter that can read an offense for the whole secondary. bad luck with the injuries. lets hope for a healthy '08

He's no Duerson or Fencik or Doug Plank
He's no Chicago legend.

Great player?  Yes
Jersey Retirement? No (even healthy)

Jersey retirement are for the best of the best of the best.  Lance Briggs is every bit as good as Mike Brown but won't get his Jersey retired.  Urlacher MIGHT.  MIGHT.  I am a HUGE Urlacher fan but is he on par with Walter?  I don't think so.

Urlacher.
If Urlacher's number isn't retired, then no one's should be. The guy has been the defining player of the current era of the time, which, all things considered, is a pretty good era (compared to the one that preceded it, certainly). He's become part of the definition of what a Chicago Bear is. Isn't that what number retirement is for?

Jersey retirement
are you trying to tell me that he was a better linebacker than Mike Singletary? if not already retired id shoot for retiring that #. no one will remember the cover 2 d 20 years from now. but they will always remember the best d of all time and singletary was at the heart. got to give richard dent his props too.

I would say that lach is better
He is bigger stronger faster, and his instincts are just as good. Singletary had some of the best de/dt's ever in front of him. Apart from the two seasons were urlacher was injured he has played lights out evey year, he is arguably the best mlb in the game right now.

haha...
You think Urlacher is better than Singletary?

Wow.

no...
... not stuck in the past, at all.  If I say Walter Payton is better than Cedric Benson am I stuck in the past?

I just think that Singletary was a better player than Urlacher is.

i don't think you should be mocking
it's a close call.  could be either way.

mike brown?
Mike Brown isn't close to being a Hall of Fame player, at least not as of right now.

There is absolutely no way that the Bears should even consider retiring Brown's number.

The guy is good.  I like him.  But he isn't one of the top few Bears of all-time.

i was saying
If his numbers continued as they have, It was just a question, I realize he was injured, but he wouldve been as big of a threat on the defense as Urlacher.

Urlacher...
... is one of the top five defensive players in the game.

Mike Brown is not.

I realize that
I was just saying if Brown was healthy the past 4 years I guarantee we would be talk about him almost as much as Urlacher...just close your eyes and think how good we couldve been w/ Brown.

I wish someone had stats on when Brown started and didnt b/c I know they would be completely different.

Dude
Enough with the Brown love.  If he was 100% healthy he would be a great player but he's not even the best safety of his generation.

And
thats the truth with some cheese on it! Even Mike Green regestered 110 tackles (87 solo, 23 assist) in 1 season, which Brown has not. Not even regestered 87 solo. Hes only had 110 in the past 4 years, YIKES!, but played every game the 4 previous seasons. Although he gets alot of picks. Not too bad for 2nd round pick. Here is a link for the M. Brown stats you wanted.

ok fine
I'm done, I just got a on a kick of showing him some live since he might be done...so sorry

IF he had stayed healthy
and continued his big play performance, and the defense had performed as well, you could probably say he was one of the best. The defense dominates and scores TDs when he plays, and that would change the outcome of many games. He is my favorite Bear since Payton and Hampton; I respect his demeanor, intelligence, off-field contributions; but most importantly how he has made the team better. I expected him to retire after his last injury; so Im hoping for the best and thrilled he is giving it another shot. Mike Brown, sir, good luck!

One thing about Brown
is that there's no denying that defense as a whole is 5 times better with him in there than without him.  Look at the San Diego game last year before he got injured.  That defense was ferocious.
GO BEARS!!!!!
