Tom Zbikowski

Tom Zbikowski was on ESPN First Take today and was asked the question how he would feel if the Chicago Bears drafted him. Zbikowski grew up in Buffalo Grove, IL, not too far away from Chicago. Tom said it would "be a dream come true" if the Bears drafted him.

Zbikowski has been a great SS at Notre Dame for the past four years and it sounds like he would love to play for the Bears. The Bears have a problem at SS because we do not know if Mike Brown can stay healthy and Brandon McGowan is not proven. ALSO, Adam Archuleta has proved nothing to any of us and looks like he is tailing off. Saftey is another major concern for the Bears. Zbikowski would probably be available in the 3rd round, probably around the 90th pick, where the Bears have a draft choice. SO, my question for everyone is...

If SS Tom Zbikowski is available at the 90th pick in the draft, should the Bears draft him?

tough to say
the guy can hit, both on and off the field (youtube his golden gloves fight). But I wonder about his coverage abilities at the NFL level.

If he's the best player available at that pick sure, I still think safety is a need, its my biggest after OL. I would think you can pick up a high value receiver or rb at that spot.

He will at worst be a special teams badass, but I want more than that from a third rounder.

I like him...
but I think a 3rd round pick would be too much to spend on him. Zib would be great on ST and could develop into a nice in the box type safety with great recovery speed. If he's there later in the 4th or 5th (and it's possible he would be) I'd prefer to  give him more serious consideration then.
They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. *That's* the *Chicago* way!

It all depends on what the Bears
do with the other picks.  If they opt to or have no choice but to draft players that are not our higher need positions, then we need to address them here.

Not at 90, maybe later

Zibby had a great sophomore season at Notre Dame, but really seemed to drop off in productivity the last two years. He seemed lost in coverage, and didn’t take the best routes when covering receivers. He can deliver the big hit, but he’ll really have to turn his coverage ability up a few notches in the NFL.

That is just my uneducated view, though, so please take that with a grain of salt.

If he can recapture the intensity and beat your * mentality he had earlier at ND, I think he can be successful.

Just guessing, but I don’t see him going before the 4th round.

they mentioned him

on am 1000 couple days ago, said they thnk he’ll have trouble covering the deep corner of the field, which I am hard pressed to disagree with having watched him play. again, i don’t have game film so its hard to rag on him and daniel with facts.

they did mention trevor laws, dt from nd as a great third round guy. he was a monster and would be a steal in that round. i have seen him in every round including the last pick of the first so who knows.

they also mentioned Jerome Simpson, wr Coastal Carolina and tyrell johnson, s arkansas state as good candidates.
