Bears Schedule Visits

Finally, somebody has let a little news out of the bag.  The Bears have either scheduled to bring in or have already brought in the following players.

Nick Hill QB Southern Illinois
Caleb Hanie QB Colorado State
Matthew Harper S Oregon
Haruki Nakamura S Cinncinati
Brandon Bornes RB San Diego State
Curtis Hamilton WR Western Kentucky
David Faaeteete DT Oregon

I know I have heard some clamoring for Nakamura in the comment section. Is anybody else familiar with any of these guys?

Nope...
...never heard of any of them. If I remember though, I think that SIU QB actually did OK for them last year. But as long as we aren't reaching for any of these guys on the first day then I guess why not bring them in.

Matthew Harper.
not much footage on this guy but a usc game. he had 2 in's and had a couple good tackles against the run. when intercepted, great runs.

Draft Offense High, Defense Low
All I am saying is that, why draft any of these players on offense in a lower round? We know Angelo can barely draft offense (Ex. Grossman and Benson). So, why not go after offense in the earlier rounds like the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounds and later, the Bears can draft defense. We all know that Jerry Angelo can draft defense in the later rounds. Just look at the starting defense that was draft 3rd round or later.

DE Alex Brown - 4th round
DE Mark Anderson - 5th round
LB Lance Briggs - 3rd round
CB Nathan Vasher - 4th round
S Brandon McGowan - Undrafted

The Bears certainly can draft defense, and draft defense in the later rounds so why would we even think about drafting a defensive player in a higher round and an offensive player in the lower round? The Bears' first three picks should be offense (OT, QB, RB, or WR.) Defense can come later in the draft.

It is a fair point
but you have to be prepared.  Based on some mocks I have read Henne and Flacco and Brohm could be gone before the Bears pick.  Then it is a guessing game on the next lot as to when they will get picked.

7th round
Trumaine McBride was a surprise.  helped at multable positions and played all 16 games. heathy players are a plus.

That was his point
use your big picks on offense since we know that JA can find defensive players late.

i'm not sure but
i think most of these guys they would be looking at either with comp picks or FA signings.

Cherry Picking
Not only are you ignoring the two of the the very best players on the Bears, Urlacher and Harris, you also fail to look across the league to see that you could make an all-star team from both sides of the ball from late round picks.

Nick Hill
Im a senior at Southern Illinois and have been rreading in local newspapers about what Hill has been up to in training, camps, etc. They released about a week or so ago that he was going to visit the bears, but didnt think much of it for wcg.

Hill was a damn good qb in DI-AA. He started all four years and improved every year.  We had one of, maybe the best, offenses in the country this year mainly based off of Hill.  He would routinely throw over 200yds.
He's a southpaw and could move enough to make defenses remember him.  We got to the semi's this year and lost to flacco's blue hens.  He lead SIU against Northern Illinois and Indiana, victories that dont happen often for DI-AA schools.
