Jerry Angelo Narrows List To Three
During a recent press conference Bears GM Jerry Angelo was asked how many prospects would he be comfortable taking at the #14 spot given who likely would be off the board.
His answer was three. To try to speculate would be hard, but I'd feel comfortable in saying Chris Williams of Vanderbilt and Jeff Otah of Pittsburgh are two of them.
It is hard to say if University of Illinois running back Rashard Mendenhall is on that list. I think Angelo would rather draft RB later, but if Williams and Otah were both gone would he then go ahead and grab the best back on his board?

I think Matt Ryan
1 of 4 teams aquiring for the # 3 pick…...Lions also being one of them. Its believed that St. Louis will take Glen Dorsey. The Rams #1 guy…if this happens migh be a trade possibility. But still highly unlikely.
Was that written in English?
I didn’t understand a word.
THE BEARS ARE ONE OF 4 TEAMS INTERESTED IN LOOKING TO TRADE UP FOR THE # 3 SPOT, ALONG WITH DETROIT. RAMS WILL PROBIBLY TAKE DORSEY THE BEST DEFENSIVE PLAYER IN DRAFT WHICH IS ATLANTAS #1 TARGET, THEREFORE ALTANTA IS THINKING BOUT TRADING DOWN. DO I NEED TO GET AN INTERPRETER OR SOMONE TO DO SIGN LANGUAGE?
I've never heard of this
Where did you see that the Bears are looking to trade up to #3?

UMMMM
Brad Biggs …i believe, but i believe it to be a smoke screen.here is the article. Report: Bears mull move up for QB Ryan
Could Jerry Angelo be fixing to make like George Jefferson and go "movin’ on up" when the draft begins Saturday?
Well, if you’ve checked out Armando Salguero’s story today in the Miami Herald, maybe it’s in the cards. Salguero reports that the Bears are among four teams considering options to move up and snare Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan. It’s a pretty good bet that any of the teams holding a top four pick—Miami, St. Louis, Atlanta and Oakland—would love the opportunity to move down and collect more selections while getting out from under the burden of a massive rookie contract.
The Inside the Bears staff will believe this scenario when we see it (that’s not to say it isn’t entirely possible for the other teams mentioned). There’s more smoke being created now that we’re five days away from the draft than you’d get at a four-alarm blaze at a lumber yard. Angelo has yet to trade up on Day 1 of the draft in six years, and moving into the top few picks to snare Ryan seems implausible. Remember, Angelo traded out of the No. 4 spot in 2003 and did all he could to deal out of it again in 2005. The problem is, it’s hard to find takers for those spots.
But if he believes Ryan is THE SOLUTION, the one who can put an end to the quarterback carousel in these parts, then he’d well served to look long and hard at all options. Angelo saw Boston College in person at least twice. He could have been scouting offensive tackle Gosder Cherilus as much or more than Ryan. We’ll see soon.
OK
here is where I sit. Is he that much better than Brohm? I don’t know, but I have to trust Angelo. If that is the guy he thinks can be the Bears future then go get him. Don’t settle. Stop playing the picks game. Take a shot once in awhile instead of going at it from a more picks means more chances to get lucky.

Well
If Armando Salguero says so, it must be true…
The mention of the Bears in that article is:
Baltimore, Chicago, Carolina and Detroit have begun seriously considering trade-up options to get Ryan on draft day.
And that’s it. No evidence or anything. I don’t believe this for one second. I think the guy just took some teams with bad quarterback situations and plugged them into his story so it looked like he had something. This will never happen. Chicago would probably have to move to the Rams’ #2 spot to get Ryan before the Falcons do, and in order to do so we’d probably have to give up this year’s first, both our thirds, and next year’s first. That’s just ridiculous, especially since Ryan, while a good QB, isn’t really blowing anyone away. Sure, he’s probably the best QB in this draft, but if this were 2007 he’d be drafted after Brady Quinn.

Three Players?
I don’t really buy this at all. I, just as much as the next guys, love mock drafts. There are so many wild cards at the top of this draft. I can realistically see more than three there at 14 that might interest the Bears. I do agree that Chris Williams possible, although there are indications out there that he won’t get by Denver at 12. Although I think it’s unlikely, Ryan Clady and Branden Albert do have a slight chance to slip to 14. Jeff Otah has good upside, but I really don’t feel like that what we need right now. He is a RT, with no potential to really move over to the blind-side. John Tait is a RT, who is really starting to struggle playing out of position on the left side. Taking Otah is simply an equation that doesn’t add up to me. Mendenhall is going to be the best player on the board when we pick, outside of Albert slipping. I’m a firm believer that you are only going to get a starter at tackle in the first round of this draft, which is why it will be a very difficult pick. But if I had to speculate as to which three we are targeting: Albert, Williams, Clady in that order based on our preference. If all are gone, then we take the best available player. That’s Rashard Mendenhall.
If those three are gone
it’s trade-down city. That’s the way Angelo operates.

Well this makes it interesting...
Says that we are almost positively going O-line and mentions quotes from Turner: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/bears/909686,CST-SPT-bearnt23.article

I think the 3
are Clady, Williams and Mendenhall.

I just don't see
Clady being available at 14, so I wasn’t counting him in the list.

Maybe so...
haven’t heard a lot of Bears/Otah talk though…maybe Albert instead of Clady then.

It really seems like this year is so unpredictable…
