Potential Bears Draft Scenario / 1st 6 Rounds
This should be the Bears first 6 rounds, and the 7th is a toss-up:
1) Trade down and take Louisvile QB Brian Brohm
2) James Hardy, WR, Indiana
3) (70) John Greco, OT, Toledo
3) (90) Tom Zbitkowski, S, ND
3) (trade down pick) Mike Hart, RB, Michigan
4) (110) Marcus Harrison, DT, Arkansas
5) (142) Breno Giacomini, OT, Louisville
6) (175) Harvey Douglas, WR, Louisville
This addresses the QB,RB,DT, & S positions and gives the Bears 2 OT's and WR's in the first 6 rounds of the draft. I added a late 3rd round pick as what the Bears could possibly expect by trading down in the first round.
Zbitkowski should be a Bear, and Mike Hart is perfect to compete with Benson and both could be future Bear fan favorites. Brohm is very underated and having his college OT and WR would be a big plus. Louisville had a good program, successful, and these three would be a big help. Also, Greco is a find in the 3rd round. He could fill a big need. And Hardy from Indiana gives us a good receiver from a Midwest school also (weather factor) Harrison is really a sleeper DT in the 4th round. I think a draft like this, along with maybe a lucky pick or two out of 4 in the seventh round could really improve the Bears for this season.

big drop-off in OTs
early vs. late, unlike RBs and WRs. and given that the OL is our biggest concern, if we wait until the 3rd round to draft an OT in a draft where there are at least 4-5 guys that will go in the 1st who have pro-bowl potential, this draft will be an absolute failure. i don’t think benson or grossman/orton are necessarily going to amount to much, but i don’t think anyone will succeed in those positions behind our porous OL.

We should Trade up
And Grab the best OT and OG we can with the taded up pick and then trade back into the first then grab the next best thing…....Williams/Albert or Clady/Albert…....... THAT would be sweet.

I think
I would try to try back a few spots and potentially pick up an extra pick IF Denver and Carolina both take a non-OT with their pick (ie Denver takes a RB, Carolina takes a DE, which seems likely now). That would mean there would still be several quality OTs on the board, and the Bears could still potentially trade back and pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd and still get someone from the Otah/Williams/Clady/Cherilus group.
Regardless, I think the Bears need to try to pick up a late first/early second pick without giving up their current second rounder. Not sure how Angelo will accomplish that, but I think he needs to. The group of Henne/Flacco/Brohm will likely be gone when the Bears pick in the second, and I really think the Bears should get one of those guys with the intention to have them start next year.
Of those three, I like Brohm the best. First, history has shown that the single most predictive factor in NFL QBs success is their college accuracy. Brohm is tops in the class in that department, better even than Matt Ryan. I think Flacco is over-rated because of his arm (he is seeing a similar surge to what Kyle Boller saw a few years ago, and like Boller, you need more than a strong arm to play qb in the NFL. I think Henne is seeing a surge because he went to the same school as Tom Brady. Henne has career backup written all over him, but teams liked him in interviews, and nobody wants to miss out on the next Tom Brady. Brohm was a top 10 pick not that long ago, and really did nothing to justify his drop.

totally agree
Brohm was the #1 before the season and probably had an even better season than Ryan who threw a lot of ints. Everybody is looking for the next Brady and Henne went to the same school, so he gets the benefit of the doubt. I think Booty is just as good. Flacco is a wildcard, he is big and has a big arm, so teams will want him hoping they can develop him.

I don’t think we would need to move down to get Brohm. I think there is a good chance he falls into the second round…
Also, as someone said above, after the first/second rounds, there is a pretty big drop-off in O-Line. My only other thing with this is the lack of a HB pick.

Y
do you all want more picks? ....we already have 11…im sick and tired of trading down to get players that suck anywayz…...we hardly ever trade down and pick someone of great value.

Not thrilled with these selections
but if you dont have faith Grossman or Orton can be adequate QBs, at least you can start the rebuilding by selecting a potentially good franchise QB. Greco could be a good OT and contribute this year, Giacomini is more of a project but could also develop into a decent LT. I think Hardy is the 2nd/3rd best WR and would love the Bears to take him in the 2nd, but doubt he is still there. I think the Bears have bigger needs than another SS(like FS/OG/OT) to add with the 3rd round pick. Dont like the Hart selection, too similar to Benson/Peterson in my book.
