What QB Should We Take?

There are so many options for the Bears at the quaterback position in the 2008 NFL Draft.

Matt Ryan will probably go before the Bears pick at number fourteen, and there is a small chance that the Ravens would take Brian Brohm. If Brohm is left when the Bears pick, they would likely pass on him if Otah or Mendenhall were still there.

After the Bears pick, most of the other team's won't be looking for a QB, and those that are will for the most part, look to take one later. The Bears could hope that Brohm would be there when they pick in the second round, or they could take one of several other options.

Some Mock Drafts have the Bears taking John David Booty and Dennis Dixon in rounds three or four.

Would you like the Bears to go with a QB later such as Dixon, take Brohm in the first or second round or take some like Flacco or Woodson in the second or third round?

there are a few later round guys

that sound really interesting. I’ve been reading into them, seeing that it’s doubtful we’ll get one of the top QB’s by the time our second round pick roles around. The later round guys that I like are Kevin O’Connell, Josh Johnson, Dennis Dixon, Bernard Morris, Kyle Wright, Paul Smith and Matt Flynn. I wouldn’t be too angry/surprised if we don’t draft a QB high and find a steal late in the draft. I think they could at least be quality back-ups in the NFL.

It looks like it’ll be something like this one through five:

1) Jake Long
2) Chris Long
3) Matt Ryan
4) Glen Dorsey
5) Darren McFadden

If the Ravens pass on Brohm, I think he’ll be there in the second. In my opinion, there is no way he is worthy of the eight overall pick, so I don’t see them taking him. The Bears won’t probably take him at 14 because I think they’ll take Otah or Mendenhall.

I’d really like a day one of Otah/Mendenhall and Brohm. That’d mean in the third round with our two picks, we could get an OL/RB and a WR.

If Brohm is there in the 2nd round

I think you gotta take him. But there is no way the 2nd rated QB lasts that long. I believe Ryan, Brohm, Flacco, and Henne will all be selcted before the Bears pick at #44. Next years QB class is reported to be weak, and teams will gobble them up this year.
I think the Bears will take their chances with Grossman and Orton maybe having a breakout season, they really havent played all that much with a good offensive unit around them. Late in the draft, 6th or 7th round, I think they select Colt Brennan who had a productive college career, but doesn’t imprees most scouts with his pro potential. And maybe invite undrafted Paul Smith to camp to compete on the development squad and be an emergency callup.

There are two guys late

that project really well Paul Smith out of Tulsa and Kevin O’Connell out of San Diego St. A lot of people are high on them. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Bears tried to get one of them.

O'Connell is my guy

but the number of good second-tier guys is actually pretty deep this year. As long as its not Colt Brennan.

Brohm was there, but they took Forte instead. There is a chance he falls to the third, but I’d like the Bears to trade up and get him in the second.

Brohm and Henne are both gone. Do we take Booty in the third or wait until the ‘09 Draft for a QB?

UNH QB RICKY SANTOS IS THE NEXT BRADY!!!

New Hampshire QB Ricky Santos will be the best Rookie out of the 2008 Class. The 2 things he has going against him is that he is 6’1” to 6’2” tall. He supposedly doesn’t have a strong arm according to some scouts, but I’ve seen him play. He played in the same conference as Joe Flacco. Ricky Santos’s stats were a lot better. Ricky Santos was the best QB in the Hula Bowl. He’s one so many national Division 2 awards over his 4 years as a starter. The Walter Payton (Best Division 2 Offensive player) award several times. He just split the ACC offensive player of the year for 2007 with Joe Flacco. Ricky Santos can scramble for numerous touchdowns per game. His awareness, pocket presence, and scrambling ability is through the roof. He averages 3-4 passing touch downs per game for 4 years. He’s had no injuries. He is extremely smart as well! A lot of college and pro scouts were disappointed that he some how got snubbed and was invited to the combine. ESPN has him ranked no lower than the 29th best QB this year. Google him and check out his stats, awards, and recaps of games. It was him throwing to David Ball (UNH WR 2007 undrafted free agent – Bears) that broke Jeery Rice’s all time college records. David Ball just didn’t have speed. Ricky Santos is the other half of the equation is breaking that record. He has thrown for over 13,000 yards at UNH! He threw about or over 120 touch downs! He has scrambled for over 20 or 30 touch downs! I’m glad UNH is on Bears radar (Jerry Azumah, Corey Graham, David Ball…Ricky Santos?)!!! Please draft him with a late round pick or sign him as soon as the draft is over! Several teams have been speaking to his agent!!!! Best Bang for the buck!!!
