Chris Williams? Is that the Right First Round Pick?
I'm not sure I agree with the recent Bears pick of OT Chris Williams out of Vandy. In terms of OT's I had Otah out of Pittsburgh before Williams. I think we should have gotten a good RB in the first round. I would have gone with Felix Jones because of his athleticism and experience in the best college conference the SEC. Also, I think it's pivital that we select a quarterback because I don't think Rex and Kyle have the potential to be long-term quarterbacks. Brian Brohm Louisville?

What do you think?

Yes
we needed a Left tackle badly. Albert is a guard who people think can slide over and Otah is a RT. I would have traded up to get Clady personally, but I think Williams will be an above average starter for us.

I think Williams was a good pick but I’m not entirely sure. I feel like this draft was ours for the taking and we let it slip. I’m not great at evaluating linemen, but I would have preferred Albert over Williams. I’m still happy with Williams though.
In the second round, I think we made a mistake taking Forte and not trading up for Flacco. I Forte is solid and I like the fact that we didn’t take Brohm or Henne. But this better be followed up with drafting O’Connell or Josh Johnson unless we plan on getting Tebow next year.
Overall, it seems like this is a draft we’ll need three years to evaluate.

3 years?
i can tell you in 3 seconds….we Will suck…...have you seen the schedule that we have to face? Think bout the d-line players Williams and Beekman will be playing against…...you tell me. Rex and Orton are dead men walking.

Andre Woodson is the pick tomorrow.
I’m 100% certain of it. The Bears have liked him since the middle of last season. I remember checking mock drafts last Fall and the Bears were going to draft him in the first no matter what. At the time, about 2/3 the way through the college season, the Bears FO was supposedly in love with him. That could have changed, but he fell, so that’s a difference as well.
Don’t color me surprised at all if that’s who they take.

agree
there was a lot of woodson talk, I think he’s the guy they go with. I liked him the best in the beginning, not sure what he did to fall out of favor.
trying to figure out why people are so high on drafting tebow, is he that good a passer? 66% good enough?
as much as I don’t like the qb situation I;m actually pretty ok with them drafting everything else this year if they end up doing that, they need a lot of help. so far so good though in my opinion, hopefully they can get williams in the weight room

im not prejudice but
Black QB’s suck…....How many are hall of famers? 2 Williams/Moon…...it seems to me all the care about is running out of the pocket so the can look flashy and get broke up like McNabb,Culpepper,McnNair…......How many have a superbowl ring? 1 . Unless he’s a pass first run second Type guy, he basically has no shot.

Kudos to tyger1147
With your call on Williams. Moves Tait back to the right and gives us, in my opinion, the most NFL ready left OT after Long. I called Mendenhall then an OT in the second, but with the 1st round run on OTs we would have been SOL. I also like the Forte pick. Some would say we took him too high but he would have been gone by the third. I think he was the best RB available after the 1st round selections. I would prefer one of the San Diego QBs over Woodson though -

Williams was a good pick
The Bears needed a LT and they got their man in Chris Williams. I may have prefered Branden Albert or Jeff Otah over him but Chris Williams works for me. Matt Forte on the other hand, DID NOT! Way to pick Brohm or Henne!

Neither Otah or Albert
are LT. Otah played RT at Pitt and Albert played LG at UVA. Al Groh is a pretty good coach so I doubt he wouldn’t have noticed his LG could be a top 15 pick LT and not tried it. Albert is a workout wonder.

williams handled his own in the SEC
that’s pretty impressive. he’s supposedly ready to step in at LT from day 1. otah’s a RT and albert’s a G who everyone thinks can play LT, but who hasn’t done it yet. kinda risky. williams is the surest thing. good pick. also key because his ability to play LT immediately also allows us to move tait back to RT, so we upgrade 2 spots on our line.

No QB
If it wasn’t Flacco or Ryan, I didn’t want Brohm or Henne, too immobile for our line and too fragile. I’m looking forward to selecting a QB next year.
And we can’t look at mock drafts, especially from the middle of last year, the figure out who the Bears liked. Those mock drafts weren’t based on opinions of GMs but instead the opinions of the mock draft authors. So to say Woodson is our guy because a mock draft from November said he was is a flawed logic pattern.
