A speculative look at day 1 starters
So I was wondering what everyone here thought about our day 1 starters, on both sides of the ball.
I think it will be
on offense; qb grossman, rb, benson(however will only be a starter in name, will split time with forte) c kruetz, t tait and williams g garza and either beekman/ metcalf (not sure) te clark/olsen (we damn well better run two tight ends) wr booker, bradley, hester
and on defense; de ogunleye, brown, dt harris, dvoracek, lb briggs urlacher, hillenmeyer, cb vasher, tillman, s mike brown, payne.
So what do you all think

I guess I don't understand the point of the post.
You listed obvious starters, and then put ”/” when you weren’t sure. I thought you were speculating on who the starters would be, not reading the chicagobears.com depth chart page.
It sort of sucks that you hate me, doesn’t it? You shouldn’t have that much emotion in your relationship to a commenter on a blog, ya know.

the point was to speculate on the positions we werent sure about
like G and wr and rb, and I dont actually hate you, you are just annoying and a prick and I hate reading your name because I know that above it will be some condescending diatribe that seems to be there more to insult someone then to actually further any type of discourse. Just like the only post you put on here, you wasted two posts on asking why I wrote it whether actually doing what I asked, to me its just like why bother, the only answer I can think of is just that you are just a jerk with nothing better to do.

I think its about right except safety
I think Manning and Brown are the starters, even though they are our best FS, Brown may also be the best SS. I look for Metcalf to win the starting Guard spot. Leave St. Clair as the first backup OT at either spot. Probably backup Booker with Bennett, Hester with Davis, and Bradley with Monk. At redzone possessions Monk instead of Hester, if not a 2 TE set.

yeah that is also what I was thinking
but where does that leave brandon lloyd, probably cut

Does anyone understand flanker, split end, slot receiver (X,Y,Z) and how to classify our recievers?

I'm not sure
but I think a “flanker” mostly refers to the west coast offense but I’m probably wrong.

Williams may start
at right tackle. He will not start a game next season (barring injury) at left tackle.

Uh, I disagree
I think you’re wrong. Just for the record. Everything I’ve read pretty much assumes Tait will go back to the right side and Williams will start at LT. Why do you think he won’t play LT? What have you been reading?

What I have been reading...
Is that Williams will be a left tackle but is a ‘project pick’ and needs time. And that I wouldn’t trust him to protect our QBs backside without a little seasoning.

I think
there is a good chance Benson is cut or traded once he can pass a physical. I don’t think Angelo would have been that indicting of him if he planned to keep him around. Keep in mind a player can’t be cut while injured, so they may be waiting for his rehab to end before they let him go. So I think Forte will be the starter.
I don’t think Hester will be a starter. I think the kid from Vandy will end up with more catches than Hester at the end of the season. Hester won’t know where to line up and run his go route if Moose isn’t in the huddle to tell him.
I also think Harrison could potentially start over Dusty. I doubt they would’ve used that high a pick if they thought Dusty was starting material, but I could be wrong, maybe they want a rotation to keep Harris healthy.
And they keep saying Steltz can start. I guess we’ll see.
DEJESUS!!!

I'm sure steltz can start
but the powers that be (lovie and angelo love kevin payne) and had he not broken his arm we might have seen what they see.

Dusty won't be demoted
I don’t know a lot about the new DT, but Dusty has looked very good the few times he has played. I’m sure the Bears are just planning on being injured at the DT position, just like they are planning on being injured at Safety with Brown. Dusty Dvoracek will loose his job due to injury before it is skill this year. Coaches don’t prefer rookies to vets and Dusty has two full years of learning the schemes. Next year may be a different story.
Benson being cut would be shocking to me. I don’t think we are deep enough at running back to cut him. Peterson is going to be more limited in use so he is more valuable as a special teamer. Wolfe will get more opportunities this year, but I don’t think they are counting on him. Also, I’m sure Angelo still wonders if Benson would do better with some blocking, the same way he still wants to see if Rex or Kyle have developed any further and would play better if they weren’t get jacked-up on every other play.
Kick it to me... I'm open!

agree on bennet
I think the rotation is probably a sure thing, don’t think dusty will lose the starting job.
benson won’t get cut i don’t think, at least until after he looks slow and out of shape.
