Around SBN: The Worst Team Ever Projected?

Grossman, Orton, Hanie, or Hill?

Well, here we go. The Chicago Bears' QB depth chart! Isn't this exciting? So, we have these four QB's to choose from to be the Bears' starting QB. We have all seen Grossman. Honestly, don't leave a post if your going to show any support for Grossman. He sucks, the end. He lead us to the Super Bowl blah, blah, blah. NO HE DIDN'T! The defense did! Only people with their heads stuck up their butts say Grossman took them to the Super Bowl! The guy gets injured and is the most inconsistent QB in the NFL! Don't tell me he is better than Orton because he isn't! Please, give me three reasons WHY Grossman is better than Orton. YOU CAN'T! Don't say Grossman has a better arm. Orton has a good arm too! Grossman has done ZIP for the Bears but Jerry Angelo can't admit he made a HUGE mistake by taking Grossman over Larry Johnson, Dallas Clark, and Willis McGahee. Cut Grossman and cut all ties he has with the Bears. Grossman sucks, period.

The job should go to Orton. Orton has been 13-5 as a starter with the Bears. Yes, he has had only 12 TD's and 15 INT but most of this came IN HIS ROOKIE SEASON! Orton now knows Ron Turner's awful offense and knows whats going on. He won the Bears last two games of the year last year, almost half of the total wins the Bears had last year. Why not give him the job?

Hill and Hanie can learn the offense and be benched for a year. That is if they can even make the team...

You say Rex

didn’t lead them to a SB, then you say Orton is 13-5 as a starter. You don’t think he had the same benefit from our D in ‘05? Or even the last few games of last season?

“Oh, but he was a rookie!”...blah blah blah…sound familiar?

2 is almost half of 7? It’s 29%. With a D that generated turnovers. Imagine that.

I second that emotion

before grossmans awful cardinals game last year people were saying mvp, and the notion that orton is even close to being as (I sont want to say good when refering to orton) physically talented (i guess) as grossman is laughable. In just about every catagory grossman blows orton out of the water, doesnt mean I like grossman, but I like him a hell of alot more than orton, yeah it was cool to see him play the last couple of games, but that was more of a sideshow attraction than a qb evaluation. I dont want to sound like I am defending grossman, I wanted brohm, but when I look at the roser right now I’m thinking grossman wins by a wide (cavernous, expansive, more adjectives describing long distances) margin. Oh and I am voted no on tebow in 09.

Thanks mikebdot

I came to make a comment on here to say exactly what you just said. It looks like the first person who read it beat me to the punch.

I am surprises

I thought Orton would get more votes.

I am taking a strictly wait and see approach. Hopefully we have a truly open competition and whoever comes out ahead works for me.

I don't think there

is much chance Hanie or Hill sees the field this year. I think Angelo learned with Krenzel that if you throw a developmental project into action his first year you can pretty much kiss him goodbye.

I personally think the Bears might make a deal for someone, and let Hill/Hanie fight it out for the practive squad position. As much as I dislike Angelo, I have a hard time believing he thinks that Hanie or Hill is the future of the organization. Do they have a chance to be Tony Romo? Sure. Should you count on it? Only if you don’t value your position as GM.

Maybe Angelo is on the phone with Phil Savage about Brady Quinn or something.

so

we have an “open competition” this year, but if there’s one thing we know, is that in practice grossman’s an all star, but once the rush comes he is a putz. what the hell are they going to do to make this year’s competiton any better at deciding who can give us a chance to win?

Rex Had 1 Chance

2006 Rex had a fair chance. It was up and down which is expected from a first year starting QB. 2007 was not a fair chance. That offensive line sucked and sucked bad. Those receivers were a joke. And don’t even start me on the run game. Rex played the first three games of the year and the guys around him were not ready to play an NFL defense and not competitive at all. When Grossman got back in later in the season he looked much improved in all of his 3 and a half games. In fact he looked very good. In those games. Look at how bad P Manning plays when he gets hit and he is one of the best ever. I understand why people don’t like him, but to say he had a fair shake in 2007 is not at all truthful. If you are saying they should have pulled Rex after every bad game in 2006 then you will never find a starting QB.

Kick it to me... I'm open!

Painter Is Questionable

He puts up amazing numbers vs. Alright/Bad programs but ABSOLUTELY nothing vs. strict competition. No reason to Draft him, he was Ortons successor at Purdue and Orton is much better. Similar mobility to Orton but has much much better receivers then Orton had. I think his receivers make him look better than his actual numbers imply. It will be interesting to see how he does without Dustin Keller. Who by the way is a beast and just runs people over. Deserved to be the first TE taken. (sry sidetracked)

Qb

I think in one or two years, Hill or Hanie could be a solid starter for us. The thing is, they can’t see the field till they are absolutely ready or they’re screwed. I’m hoping Hill makes it. I like the lefty but we’ll see.
