Cedric Benson Not Likely To Be Cut
PFT has called out Bears GM Jerry Angelo concerning his approach to the Cedric Benson situation.
Angelo said:
“The thing that I am most disappointed in is the fact that he put himself in a position to be the victim,” Angelo said Saturday night, per the Daily Herald.
PFT says:
But that doesn’t make much sense: If Angelo thinks Benson is telling the truth, and he was just a law-abiding citizen enjoying an evening on his boat when the police dragged him away and pepper-sprayed him, how is that putting himself in a position to be the victim? And if Angelo thinks Benson isn’t telling the truth, then he shouldn’t view Benson as “the victim” at all.
Until we know exactly how this is going to play out it impossible to make any real judgements, but you get his point.
The real part of this is that Angelo goes on to address the issue of cutting Benson.
There’s no plans to cut him,” he said. “I’m a little surprised it’s an everyday story, but unfortunately it is and he’s having to deal with it. I’m not anticipating any reason why he wouldn’t be [in training camp]. We’ll just let the courts decide what the facts are and we’ll go from there.”

this is crap!
look, i am disappointed in benson’s performance on the field as anyone. in fairness, last year’s line would have made most backs look average. he deserves another shot.
but the “incident” is something that should make all of us wake up to the fact that the us is looking more and more like a police state. from all accounts, he was minding his own business on his property, and the boat was at anchor, so now you cannot have a beer on your boat when it is not even out on the water? sounds like a BWB-boating while black to me. the cops in this country are out of control, and if it can happen to a famous athlete, you better know it can happen to you. people are getting tasered, sprayed and shot by cops people! and more and more military are policing us, in blatant violation of the posse comitatus act, and now you have a de facto national id card and little nazis running around demanding to see your papers. wake up and fight the power!

Not "from all accounts"
I have a completely un-judged mind (?) in this situation, but it’s not like we know for a fact that he was/is completely innocent.

mexmike, the drama queen
maybe you are not old enough to remember when people could travel freely, without a camera watching their every move and nobody monitoring your email, financial activities, etc. you need to wake up, bro. i sugget looking up 9/11 on you tube and start watching some unfiltered news on how that was all an inside job so they could pass the patriot act and trample on all our civil liberties. do you remember how the buildings came down like a controlled demolition? everyone seems to have forgotted how building 7, which was never even hit by a plane, was imploded as well, because of a “fire”. from there, look up the stuff on how they killed jfk and jfk junior. then call me a drama queen, if you still believe the official account of these events. i’m not angry at you, just saying there is something bigger going on than just another black guy getting hassled. ok?

BULL CRAP
as said Benson has not performed to be worthy of his 4th pick taking but he’s been injured and behind a shitty line last year. as far as this “incident” goes hundreds of people get shit faced drunk on the lake every year and close to none get pulled over, arrested, or pepper sprayed by police. in my eyes this was a racist act no matter what comes of it. how does a famous athlete who happens to be black get singled out outta everybody on the lake??? because he is indeed black and had a bunch of folks on the boat.

pft is retarded
he put himself in a position to be a victim by going to a known party spot as a famous athlete. i loathe PFT and imagine their “staff” is just a bunch of goofy teenagers who sit in a basement with laptops making up retarded rumors.

PFT is crap
A person can be a law-abiding citizen and put themselves in position to be a victim. Don’t take anything from PFT as legit, credible, or intelligent.

Wow. Blog-commenter calling bloggers "nerdy".
I suppose that’s not a “new one”, but hilarious nonetheless.

i'm not saying i'm not a nerd
but i comment on this blog on my free time, when i’m not working 50-60 hour weeks for caterpillar that is. i’m sure the guys at pft are getting paid decently from ad revenue and website hits all by making shit up, just seems absurd. even more absurd is i’ve seen a few blogs that take what pft says as gospel (haven’t seen that around here, thankfully) and it is retarded.

I think PFT may have taken the quote too literally:
I think JA may have meant that Benson put himself in a position to be a victim, not necessarily the victim. “Victim” in this case I think was meant in a vague sense and not to mean that he was in fact victimized per say. PFT took this all too literally.
