Fans Like Grossman and Forte

The Chicago Bears official site, held a poll asking fans who they think will be the Bears starting QB and RB.  Here are the results.

Grossman/Forte 34.6

Grossman/Benson 34.6

Orton/Forte 17.7

Orton/Benson 8.1

Rex Grossman starting isn't anything that would surprise people.  Kyle Orton as far as play comes across as a game manager where as when Grossman is on I think they see him as a home run hitter.  Problem is he strikes out way too much.

Unless Benson's off the field issues catch up with him, I think he will be our opening day starter.

Depends on the question

If the question is “Who will be starting?”, like you have, then it’s going to be Benson and Grossman. If it’s who should be starting, the answer is different.

exactly

we’ve all seen how stubborn Lovie is…it’s likely we’ll go into the season with Grossman/Benson even though it may not be the best two players starting.

stubborn or stupid

he pulled grossman pretty quick last year.

not real sure

but after watching him throw great passes to Anthony Henry i know i wasn’t against it.

its too bad he’s so erratic we can’t evaluate him right?

I agree that this question is different from

“Who do you WANT starting?”
I think Grossman improved a lot down the stretch last year and I hope he continues that because to me he was better mentally when he took the “What’s the worst that they could do now?” approach. Because once he didnt have that pressure to perform there was nothing to lose so he didn’t have to justify starting by making huge plays. IMO

Lovie Smith-isms:
"We get off the bus running"
"Rex Grossman is our quarterback."
"...and we'll go from there."

qb comp

If one guy goes nuts early and the team is winning coupled with the d, lovie wont pull the plug on either….. and he’s proven that.

But given the instability at some key spots, this o in all likelihood will take some time to gell. Safe bet that both qbs and rbs will play and start in some combo during the season. I think thats what makes these one year contracts appealing to angelo, given the fact he can make the transition smooth to whichever combo for 09 season.

I wouldn't say that I am shocked

that the fans picked exactly the opposite of the correct answer. :-)
